I plan on doing a build thread for my wife's 52 "Belle" in about a month. Since I know there are a couple guys on here that like photographs here are a few.

As of today my wife and I have been working on Belle for two months.




October 12th, the start.





October 13th, down to the frame.





December 12th, Coyote fits fine.





December 12th, TCI front and rear suspension.





December 12th, filled and bled clutch and brakes today.





December 12th, fuel pump and filters.





December 12th, checking running board clearance.

 

Dude, your garage is WAY too clean!!!!!!

That is going to be one fine truck. But, that looked like one fine truck in the before picture.

I agree "nice garage", it's cleaner than my house LOL. Wow you and your wife have sure got a lot done in two months. Belle is really clean now, I'm eager to see what else you have to show. Nice job

Apparently, you haven't really spend enough time pondering getting kicked in the nuts. Little disappointed in your priorities, mister. Tearing a truck down to the frame, mounting a new go-go, checking fit, scrubbing every trace of crud and juice from the floor of your garage floor. What are you thinking? Now the rest of us schlubs have another impossible standard. Between you and Wally, I'm about ready to surrender completely and sit around watching the Velocity Channel all day.

The shop is clean because I don't have very much room and it fills up with stuff fast if I don't keep it that way. Project is moving along well because my wife works with me and the truck is in such good shape I don't have seized bolts, repairs and rust to deal with. Today's project, get the cab inside and on it's back so we can work on the bottom.





Finally found some rust under the truck and under the cowl. I feel for all of you in the rust belt.

 

Wife and I brought the cab inside and set it on it's back. Wife's comment "that was easy".



Super clean for a 62 year old truck.

I'm curious about your fuel pump choice/location. Electric pumps are designed to push rather than pull, so all the manufacturers I am familiar with recommend mounting the pump as close to the tank as possible. Where are you mounting your tank? Are you going to run a return line from the pump to the tank or does the Coyote return from the fuel rail? Why did you chose to use an external pump with the coyote rather than an internal one like is almost universal with modern high pressure EFI and much easier to install/plumb?

 

Ax, I debated the fuel pump for quite awhile. I am using a modified stock tank with a return. The tank gravity feeds the pump. I know there has been debate about bottom outlet fuel tanks and fuel leaks but feel if done properly it is as safe as a top fuel pickup.

 

The major safety consideration would be that the outlet and line be above the bottom of the frame and/or be protected by a substantial skid plate. The danger is high centering the vehicle and ripping off the outlet. Not all states with vehicle inspection laws will pass a bottom outlet tank. If the pump is mounted higher than the tank outlet, it is no longer being gravity fed once the fuel level drops below the pump.
