The spring would not move if properly centered. You would not have any indication that the fuel pressure was excessive, just hard on the fuel pump from what I have read when others had spring issues.

Centering the spring while tightening the regulator housing was a bit of a challenge. In my case, I thought I had the spring centered, checked with gauge and it showed 90+ psi with the needle jumping. I pulled regulator housing and tried again. Pressure this time was 55 psi and needle was steady.

I made a test gauge by using the plastic top off my old fuel filter drilling and tapping the plastic to 3/8" pipe and installing an inexpensive gauge I bought at Home Depot. It is good enough for a quick test of fuel system pressure.

Brilliant idea. What O ring do you use when testing? New or old one?

Thanks for the compliment. I used the old o-ring that was already on the filter cap. I guess I should add a disclaimer that I only install that gauge to test fuel pressure EOKO or at idle with me standing right there.
