Glad I bought my 7.3 when I did!

I was browsing insurance auctions the other day, just out of curiosity. I remember, geez almost three years ago now, I told my dad, I should jump on getting one now if I'm going to do it, because they'll only have a lot higher mileage and be in worse shape in a few years. What I found the other day was not only higher mileage, but a lot less selection! When I bought the one I did, I wanted it equipped as identical as possible, and within a reasonable distance. I got just that too, equipped exactly the same options wise, with reasonably low mileage. Now, I was lucky to find any 7.3s in the country, and the closest one to what I'd need was in Texas, was lifted, and had an engine fire.

I'm pretty sure I couldn't buy today, what I bought three years ago.

That 7.3 is still a stand in the garage, but that's a story for another day.

As much as some deride the 7.3 (6.0 crowd) it can be modded to be a great, reliable, powerful, torque-ish engine the only downside is it's matched to the 4R100.

Big upside no CAT.

At some point (soon) the 7.3 will be appreciated for what it is, a Clydesdale.

Yes, that is why I stopped drinking A-B products (taken over by InBEV) .

Mark here's my take on it.

The 6.0 can also be modded to be a great, reliable, more powerful with more torque (then what the 7.3 crowd can probably handle) And the upside is we don't have to deal with that crappy transmission.

My cat ran away here kitty kitty

Mark your right in comparing a Clydesdale and a 7.3, they run about the same speed

Ok, let the wars begin

No wars with my brother.

Love you, anyway.

Since a good 7.3 is so hard to find I would be hard pressed to find another and may settle for a 6.0.

j/k

I did search for a 7.3 for sometime, I just couldn't find a 2002/2003 model in clean enough shape for me. But I can honestly say after spending the $$$'s on the 6.0 I'm glad I ended up this route. No regrets here

At some point I may be a follower to you being a leader.

You are so right, 7.3's have a tendency to be treated like a mule (because they are so reliable) with minimum maintenance.

The owners also treat the interior likewise.

Jon, I heard about that one it was trying to catch a 6.0 that was towing a 10,000 boat when it caught fire.

Yet you can find 6.8`s all over and they are just as reliable! much rather have the V-10 than the diesel!

Yeah, part of me wonders if I should even attempt it, because the V10 has never had any trouble. Well except at 2,500 miles when the battery died because the dealer didn't prep it right and didn't have the alternator connected.

I only use it for towing and long distance for the most part now, so a diesel would make sense. Plus, epic torque, and THAT SOUND.

I hear lots of 4r100 bashing, can't speak for others but mine has 225K, about 175K of that chipped (the transmission killing Edge) and probably 40k towing our camper all over the US of A. It has been perfect and maybe i'm lucky but I would drive that sucka all the way from NC to Ca an back.... again. And not break a sweat. (Also from Fl to Ct and Tx to Montana over the Rockies and most places in between including Grandmothers house)

PS I don't have a 6.0 cooler

That's funny. It's like the bald guy with a bumper sticker that says "Bald is Beautiful."
