Was just wondering how many other "kids" are messing around with these old trucks. I'll start by saying that I understand that age SOMETIMES doesn't have anything to do with knowledge. Let's keep this thread positive; no need to antagonize the next generation of ford truck lovers. If you are willing; please include your age, when you first realized you like old ford trucks, who influenced you to do so, whether you own a truck or not, and if you do, what model truck it is and some specs. Personally; I am sixteen years old. I own a 1953 F250 with a 300 cubic inch inline six, offy 4 barrel intake manifold, efi dual exhaust manifolds, zf s5-42 five speed trans, full float dana 60 with posi, front disc brake conversion, boosted dual piston master cylinder. I first realized I had a thing for old ford trucks when I went to an all ford car show during a trip to disneyland when I was Ten. My Dad would always talk about my grandfather's 56 F100 and how great it was. He has helped me with my truck since I bought it over two years ago, but I have financed every nut and bolt on the truck.

Wow, impresses this old geezer. The future is in good hands, that's for sure. And a big "attaboy" to dad for helping with the father-son project. Stu

Thanks stu, I always appreciate your posts (especially marmon-herrington related) because of the knowledge I can gain reading them. My dad asks me everyday about what I have learned on this forum. I sometimes find myself with a craving for this forum. As many have said, it is a sickness.

I'm seventeen, I got my truck earlier in this summer. Honestly, I've always been more of a GM person, following my dad, I guess. My addiction started when my great-uncle reached out to my dad, knowing he's a mechanic and really into the classic stuff. My great uncle has a ton of old ford trucks that he's used on his farm for many years. Anyways, he knew that he would never be able to get to his old blue truck to be able to drive it in the local parade that he dreamed of, so he wanted to see it worked on, if not totally restored before he died. He asked if my dad would be willing to buy it and fix it up, however, my dad had his own projects to work on, so my dad told him that I'd been looking for a project of my own to work on. There are many stories involving this truck and many farmyard modifications/fixes done on this truck (Shameless plug: everything is or will be in my build thread!) I have since fallen in love with this truck and all these old fords. It has the original 223 straight 6 and T98 4 speed on the floor. I plan on making it as stock/looks like stock from the outside as reasonably possible, while still having a vehicle that's drivable on modern roads and highway worthy. I'm glad us youngsters have the opportunity to use this thread and show all these "geezers" that we're not the mindless, common-sense lacking drones they think we are

Mitchel I just enjoyed the pics in you album, thanks for posting them. Im 63 and had a 65 Valiant when I was your age (back windows painted black and a mattress instead of a back seat LOL), but one of my best friends had a 55 F-100 that I always I just loved back then. It wasn't till I was about 50 that I finally got My F-1. It's great to have you on the site, You and your nice truck. Welcome.

My son is not on here but grew up working on classic vehicles with my old 66-77 Broncos. Chose his first car at 14, a 66 Mustang. Now 20 yrs. old, he has chosen the "55" F100 we are working on now. Two of his friends are also into pre-60's trucks. All share the same interests and lack of money, but the hobby is alive for another generation at least.

It all started with matchbox cars and a car show my dad took us to. Found a hot wheels 1956 f100 when I was 13 still have it. Fast forward 20 years now I finally have a 1956 f 100, it's a complete basket case but it's all mine....wouldn't trade it for the world

I've been a gear head literally since I was born, I think. At the age of 11 I built my first old Ford from left over parts(bad pic below). With much help from a VERY patient and understanding father. At 17 I bought my next '51 F1 and started to restore it....
I'm an "old guy" now, but think it's great to see any younger person with interest in this old stuff.
Kudos to the younger folks for keeping the past alive!

Well let see... I've been into old trucks as long as I can remember... I'm 50 years young and loving it. My first car I bought when I was 14 (68 Datsun Sedan), another when I was 15 (59 Studabaker Lark), traded both of them for my first '49 F1 when I was 16, @ 17 I shared a '66 Olds 98 2 door, at 18 I bought a '73 Honda 350-4..... that the start of my addiction.... My dad is who I traded for the F1... He also owned while I've been alive where... 49 f1, '37 Harley Davidson 45, '59 Mercedes 190D (which I also owned) to just name a few...

I'm 63. My Dad was building flattie Ford Hot Rods before I was born. He gave me a '56 Fairlane beater for Christmas when I was 11. When I was 16, I borrowed a friends Fridge and was hooked. Funny, I've had several Ford Trucks but haven't owned a Fridge. I still want one.

Awesome! Keep us posted on progress.

Also we should acknowledge all of the dads/mentors out there willing to help the young ones out. Personally I am so thankful my dad took the time to teach me about all things mechanical.

Im 20 right now. My dad was always a ford guy so ive been into fords for as long as i can remember. What really pushed me to build a truck was the cherry bomb dodge d100 that was on stacey david gearz a few years ago. I have a 48 f1 that ive been working on for about 2.5 years. Its got a mustang 2 front suspension, 8.8 in rear with triangulated four link, 429 big block which should be at about 500 hp, t56 6 speed trans and pretty much stock body.
