Hood Keeps Coming Down

Do you have to get new hood holders when old ones become weak, or can they be fixed in some way. Head hurts!

Lol,actually it thunk him!

If you have a choice buy the better ones. A couple times I went cheap on those struts for other applications, both times disappointed.

Technically those things are called 'gas springs' and they are downright expensive. I'd recommend replacing both seeing as they are the same age and would be subject to fail at the same time.

I knew these were pricey for the size so I put up with the hood falling on my head for 3 yrs. Then I used the jack crank for a prop when working on it for a while. I got tired of it this year and went and ponied up the $40 for the stinking new shocks. They work great. My head wishes I would have done it sooner.

$40 actually sounds cheap if you got two of them for that price. Last time I bought one I think it was near $80.

There are different part numbers for left and right, and the two are actually priced differently as well. Regardless, they are identical parts, so just get two of the cheaper part number.
