Peep mirrors..... 1951 F1

Well, my truck doesn't have any mirrors in or on it so I have a fresh slate I guess.

I have run across a few peep mirrors (the ones that hang on the top of the door)

I like the look but am not sure of the quality. I wont be painting the truck (at least not for a long time) so I am not concerned with the allen bolt tightening method (truck is in primer right now)

What does everyone have that is somewhat custom? I don't mind the mirrors that mount to the door pin and have the curve. I don't like the mirrors that are F2 and up with the brackets all over and Im not really fond of the straight arm mirror that mounts to the door hinge pin.

So I am between the peep style and the curved stock style. What are everyone's thoughts?

Well that pic doesn't help lol... Now I really don't know what one I like better and they are both on the same truck.

Which mirrors do you use more when driving and maneuvering?

Here is the Peep...

Here is when I took the head off for cleaning...

I use the curved arm ones the most but am going to add a peep to the passenger side too... I use the peep for peeping... Here is one with just the peep and one with just the side mirror

I think I will be going with the curved hinge style.

Do they go out of adjustment when opening and closing the doors?

that's a very nice truck. Now you have me second guessing.

Did you get the universal peep mirrors from the internet (they are all over ebay) or did you go with a "brick and mortar" store/ supplier like NPD

Ya know I don't even know were I got it, one of the vendors at Carlisle swap meet, it's been on there since 1994 when I finished the truck, and thanks all stock with flatty v-8 and stock front end with lowered leaf springs in the front, 6" wide wheels up front 8" wide in back, I wanted that 50s hotrod look

I got peeps on both sides. Can't see jack out of them, but I like the looks so I'm keeping them. I use my inside rear view mirror the most. If I was a sensible person, I would use the curved door hinge style, however the fifties rod look is what I like too.

Mine were from Speedway Motors. I also purchased the extenders but I eliminated the door clamps and bolted directly to the door.

I have an older pair of peep mirrors on my 52 that are clamped on in the location that 48steel did but the mirrors on mine sit inline with the mounting arm rather than above like his.

I have the peep mirrors with the directional indicators and by adding on the 1 1/2" extenders from Speedway Motors I'm able to see behind on both sides.

I had the peep mirrors. I couldn't see anything out of them. One fell off one night & I couldn't find it. I was on a country road driving along at around 50 mph....so that one is gone.

I got rid of the other peep and went with a hinge mirror on the driver side only. That was a little chore, but it is usable for driving.

I may add a hinge mirror to the passenger side someday. It's not really all that necessary except when backing out of the barn. It would be nice to see the clearance between the fat fenders and the edge of the barn door!

Long time since I started this thread. I ended up with the 4 inch peep mirrors. I wanted the Curved door hinge mount mirrors but my hinge pins are most likely too much work to get out. If I ever do end up removing the doors I will do the hinge mounts.

I got in the truck, sat and pretended to mimic a driving experience and either mirror would really work for the amount Id use the mirrors.

I got a set similar to 48steel's and will install them in a similar location as well.
