99 f350 no start, fuel pressure good

truck felt like it had an intermittent miss for about a month, sat for a week and when i tried to start yesterday, turns over, but doesn't start. there is a strong fuel smell and vapor from exhaust. pulled both fuel rails to see if an injector was stuck open... all good. any ideas where else to go?

Do you have "spark" at the spark plug (when cranking ) ?

it tries to fire, but, no i haven't checked that yet. will be pulling at least one coil to check after work tomorrow. it ran halfway decent before parked, so i'm assuming the coils and plugs didn't go bad in a week of sitting. i did check crank sensor to rule that out.

Also make sure that your battery is in top condition. These trucks don't like weak batteries.

If it fires, the crank sensor is probably good.

Did you actually measure fuel pressure with a gauge? If so, what was the reading?

there is a strong fuel smell and vapor from exhaust.
That would tend to indicate the engine is flooded. Hold the pedal to the floor while cranking and that will clear the excess fuel from the system. Don't burn up your starter in the process, though.

so i'm assuming the coils and plugs didn't go bad in a week of sitting.
No, but if you're in an area where it's been really wet, you might have a moisture problem, perhaps in the fuel itself if the fuel in the tank has been in the truck awhile.
