Crazed87 the reinforcement is a good idea. I rebuilt a few of those first 80-81 firewalls before Ford came out with the updated plate to fix the broken out area.

Also I have a new 351W flywheel and center plate. PM me if you can use it. I bought it when I was going to put a 351 in my 69 crewcab but changed directions.

Adding the reinforcing was to assure it won't flex and eventually break out. I'd hate to get stranded on the trails because of that. Was also thinking about adding a bar inside connecting the plate to the dash for added flex protection. But I'll see how it does without it first.

Hi Willowbilly.

Yes I can definitely use the flywheel. Thx. Sent you a pm.

Ordered a Dorman master and slave cyl as well as a Dorman hydraulic line. For 1988 - 1992 F150 with ZF tranny from Amazon. Do I need and more parts to install the slave cylinder? Everything was missing when I bought the tranny. Thx.

Also need an inspection cover plate.

How about the clutch fork? Are you missing that? also check the pivot ball that the fork pivots on if it's still in the bellhousing check for wear. They need replacing from time to time.

If the ZF uses a clutch fork then yes all that is missing as well. Thank you. :0)

On the inside of the bellhousing there is only aluminum with nothing attached.

It should have a clutch fork I thought as the slave cylinder gets mounted to the side of the bellhousing right?

Ahh ok then you should be about set on the shopping list. I didn't know the Cyl was on the input. If I remember right my zf I got has a side mounted slave and pivots a fork to disengage clutch. But mine is also for a big block 460 that has a drum e brake on the output tail housing. Using it for my 66 crew build

Big block and diesel had the external slave, the small block got the internal slave. You'd think it would be the other way around, since there is more room outside the smallblock, but they don't always do what makes sense.

Just found a slightly used clutch. Next to no wear.
Its from a 1985 f250 6.9L. On summit racing many clutches fit the 6.9 300 302 351 460 etc. does anyone have the boltup pattern for a 351w 164 tooth flywheel so I can check if the bolt pattern will fit? Its off a t19 trans and has a 10 spline input with 1 1/16 inpt shaft the same as the ZF. Its an 11" clutch. Is there any reason this wont work if the flywheel has the same bolt pattern as the pressure plate.

Worth a try. If it doesn't work I am sure someone on here can use it.

As long as you have the dual pattern flywheel, it'll be fine. Both trans should be the 1 1/16" ten spline, but put the disc on the shaft first to make sure it is right.

Big block bellhousing ZF's have and external slave. Small block bellhousings are internal slave.
