Looking at a 04 f350 6.0l tomorrow

Hey guys I am fairly new to the site I am going to look at an 04 F350 6.0l with 114000 miles. Truck had had gaskets replaced at 60,000 miles. I was hoping you guys could tell me what else to look for. Thanks for all the help.

Hey Kevsimons, Just a word of advice! I have an 05 F350, when I bought the truck 2 years ago it had 105,000 miles on it! I bought the truck to pull campers with nationwide! My first trip was to Billings, Montana. I broke down twice on that trip! I had to end up putting a new Turbo on it! I have had nothing but problems with it! I have put a new Turbo, new injectors, new oil cooler, sensors etc. As long as I don't pull anything with it, it does ok! It has been in the shop a lot! Just my opinion, 6.0 is the worst engine Ford ever made! I have been told the head bolts suck as well! My advice would be stay away from the 6.0! Good Luck!

You can get a good one or you can get a bad one. You should have a scangauge2 plug it in and take at least 15 to 20 minute drive around town and on the highway. Check the temp difference between oil and water i think there should be no more than 10* but dont quote me on that. 6.0 even when running great can at random have coolers clog, egr go, oil pumps go, turbo goes etc etc etc. My buddy just bought a 2004 f350 crew cab long bed manual 6speed 6.0 with 84k a year ago, a older guy owned it and just used it for regular daily driving my buddy left the truck bone stock BUT did all the maintenence stuff antifreeze flush and addition of a filter, did some cooler upgrades etc and he now has a little over 100k and that 6.0 is a freakin animal! He let me drive it twice and even stock with the 6speed manual it makes me want one BAD
