Oil pan size question
#5
Ok, maybe it is not a 4x4 engine
No dipstick in side of pan and front sump.
I blew a rod in my 390 and bought a 360 from Sam (forgot his avatar name) on this forum and, using my dipstick and tube with his pan, it is reading a little higher than I thought it would with 6qts in pan and filter.
Will put write up in forum after I load pics in PB this weekend

as the oil won't flood the crank when you get on it or going up a hill.
The rear sump oil pan is really better for off roading in doing any steep hills so you don't suck any air in your oil pump.
Also by using a manual oil pressure Ga. you can monitor if your pump is picking up Air. Then you can correct your not so steep hill climbing grades.
I am also running a car 5qt. pan with a 428 windage tray with 6qts. og oil
But have not been in the any hills or really off roading since I live in the big city.
The last off roading was pretty ez at camping at Pismo Beach ca. when,
I still had my 9' c/o camper on it.
But have be in some steep hills when living in the desert but only had the 5qts. of oil and the oil psi ga. would dip once in a while but never ran it hard and always kept an eye on my oil ga. for that to happen.
