Rear fuel tank filler

Hello my (new2me) 69 swb 2wd has had a PO remove the cab mount and install a rear mounted fuel tank.
its not bad but the filler pipe is routed on the left side between the top of the leafs and the frame.
my thought is eventually I would like to do a DJM 3"& 4" lowering kit.
This will not be possible with that filler running through there as the DJM kit has relocated leaf spring mounts. I have seen the filler doors through the bottom of the bed, this is what I might do.
Does anyone have one of these and is it a good thing or a pain in the ***?

Welcome to FTE newbie
There have been numerous tanks mounted back there with numerous filler locations on here. I suggest you use the search engine top o' this page and research 'em. That way you can find out which tank you got and what fabbing was involved on installing the filler location you choose then. You may change your mind on your current choice.

Now THAT is ingenuity! What was used as a cap Hio? And how was it sealed?

IIRC, it was either one of those pop-up caps or the kind with a two-prong key. I recall seeing them in Yogi's: Yogi's Inc. Parts for Street Rods, Muscle Cars and Classics

I think Speedway Motors offers a couple of versions too..

They are frequently used on motorcycle tanks. Look in any motorcycle catalog like JP and you'll see dozens of styles.
