Ford Doesn't Deliver

Bottom line, I've had three different eta's on my truck that was built on 10/31/14. All three have passed and the dealer called last night to say that my truck was still in Kentucky and he has no idea when it'll ship. This is really making me think twice since I've been without wheels for over three weeks now.

Yea, I dont have the patience to order myself. I find what I want via the internet, and get my selling dealer to get the truck.

Generally, i am very short on patience when shopping.

I think that's a good point. Ordering any vehicle is an experience. I've had them show up in a few weeks and others, I eventually had to cancel the order and start shopping again. Only people with lots of patience and a solid plan on what they will drive while waiting for the vehicle should order one out.

I think you should be able to cancel. Hate to start a relationship with a new truck on a sour note. With the internet and a little luck, should be able to locate another truck and close within the week.

Same here. I never order anymore. I trade every three years. Shop a few dealers and find what I want on the lot. Most are usually a little more motivated to sell what's on the lot. This Platinum took all of 2 hours and I was driving it.

What burns me is that the truck has been built now for 4 weeks and they don't know why it hasn't shipped or when it will.

Your dealer needs to be more proactive with getting answers. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. If they can't get it moving let them know you'll be taking your business elsewhere.

That's odd your truck's been sitting there that long. It has to be a logistics thing, possibly waiting for more trucks going in the same direction to ship. Did your window sticker say it was going by rail or convoy? Mine was built 11/18 and is in transit (via truck) to my dealer in Ohio now. Also, have you reached out to Crystal via private message? Maybe she can get you better info.

Ford tells it's dealers to inform their customers that orders are typically filled in 10 to 12 weeks. Dealers are on their own to convey this message to their customers. Many dealers you find will just tell you what the shortest order to delivery time is..
In other words - I don't think this is a Ford problem as much as it is a dealer problem..

Mine:
Ordered.....09/23/14
Built.....11/07/14........(The Window Sticker says 10/31/14.....Planned..NOT always real)

Shipped by rail the following week......
Got as far as Kansas and sat for a week

Now....is in Laurel Montana since Monday morning. Still in Laurel MT.
waiting for a transport truck to get there.....get filled....and drive 4 hours to the dealer in Ft Benton MT.

My dealer also acts like ......."Who Cares" it'll get here some day. Just relax....may take 3 months.

What does seem to make a difference........Order from the Biggest Volume dealer in your region.

I have also found out that some of these dealers are clueless.....and lie to cover their lack of knowledge or effort.

DO PM Crystal of Ford Service !!!!! She will HELP.......

BTW: I know a person that had shipping delay after delay.... He canx the order and went to another Ford dealer.

Bottom line I found another dealer today that had a Platinum with everything I wanted but one. Went thru the Costco plan and with black Friday and financing got $10,500 off of msrp. Trucks now in the garage and I'm happy. Called the first dealer today, cancelled order and the good faith check has been shredded.

3 weeks+ from order to delivery..........

Just my opinion from all I have read on these forums........Not Possible.
5 weeks is the quickest I have seen.........
And Ford shuts down the plant for part of December I have been told......
