2000 F-550 7.3 L Throttle \ Cruise Control Short
My F-550 has a problem where it will start and idle, but there's no throttle when I put the pedal down, and then the check engine light comes on. If I just barely touch the pedal and hold it, the throttle comes back, but it happens repeatedly. I am hoping to find the person that shared some pictures and diagrams of the short issue in the shift arm lever \ steering column area some time back with me. I lost the info in a computer crash and would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
LD

Try this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tch-short.html
It's in the Excursion forum, but I believe it is the same..

Your throttle problem sounds like a bad TPS sensor that is in the pedal. Some have been able to clean it and get it to work. I myself would replace it if you find it bad. I forget the details but if you unplug the pedal assy and remove it for cleaning you can check it with a DVM. There is a write for that here somewhere on FTE.
As far as Cruise control goes do you have any codes ? Does the speedo work correctly?

No codes, speedo is fine. When it first happened I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the whole pedal assembly.and had no other suggestions except to say I needed to pay for an expensive" but worth it diagnostic test. The lack of info about common problems with our trucks is why I appreciate this forum so much. The wealth of knowledge and experience coupled with helpful attitudes of folks here sure is welcome, thanks!

Wow, this is pretty close to the info I got before, looks like this is a good place to start. It's been great reading here, so much to learn! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, much appreciated! Got any suggestions as to how to make it legal here in kalifornia? They say because of the weight rating, I'm a fleet of one.
