truck starts cold but not after 160degrees???

I got a 94.5 powerstroke and it had this problem before where it would start completely fine cold but once it got to around 160-190 degrees it will just sit there and spin over , so I bought a HPOP (thinking that was the issue)and I noticed my passenger battery cable was about done for! so the guy that worked at tire rack said" I can fix that ...no charge" well ... he screwed it up worse... he stripped the positive cables like half way off than there original size and cut that big chunk of lead off on the battery post and put a regular car one on there, it worked but I told him that that's not the correct way and it fired right up like it was suppose to ...about 2 months later it came off and I was stranded and had no either cause it wouldn't start and I put a bigger battery cable post on its still doing the same thing!!!!! what its any ideas?????????
