I have a fresh rebuilt 2000 7.3 160/100% Full Force New Injectors, 38R Turbo, DI Headers, 4" Pipes, DI Intercooler. Engine has all the bells and whistles. Rebuilt tranny with Stallion torque converter. The engine now has 250 miles on it. Everything feels good on idle and when you are easy with the throttle, tranny shifts good like it was when it was new. But when you really get on it you can hear the disk in torque converter or tranny making crazy noise in the drivers firewall. It also feels rough the higher the RPM the more you feel. You can feel some vibration in the steering wheel & gas pedal Once you hit 45 the torque converter locks RPMs come down and the roughness goes away until you hit 70 or 80 MPH and RPMs are back up. I had driveshaft rebalanced, universal joints replaced ect.. I have DI Tunes and going to Jody for live tuning in the next few weeks.
Could the roughness be extra 200 Hp that ones not used too? <!-- / message -->

 

Did you try and pull codes? That's where I would start. If there is trans codes it mitt mean a tear down.

 

No codes and it is a fresh built tranny as well..

 

Sounds like you have an engine miss. They are most pronounced after TC lockup. Maybe a faulty new injector?

 

Is there a way to tell if there is a faulty injector? I buzzed the injectors through the Infinity DX and all was good..

 

idle with the valve covers removed, see if the oil squirting out of the discharge hole is about equal between all 8.

 

Is there anyway to Pinpoint which side it might be? Or is the only way to take each valve cover off and look for the oil squirting?

 

In the 6.0 world we can do a cylinder contribution test/power balance test with AE or a IDS. I would give you a good idea what is going on. Does the buzzing sound the same from all 8 injectors?

 

I will double check tomorrow .. but they all have a little different tone.
