2002 f 350 transmission slipping , and getting hot , wait for a awhile and then drive for a block or 2 and stops working forward and reverse .
transmission overhaul ?
If so , any good shops in Austin Tx
Thank you
If the OEM trans temp gauge shows hot, you know it was dayum hot. But the good fluid color and smell is a positive sign. No light on the shift lever? If yes there are codes stored that can point to specific failure. Solenoids and pumps and crap I don't savvy. Without some codes to help I'd drive it to a tranny shop 2 miles away and see what they can do.
Isspro gauge was reading 260 .
Order me a hd 4100 from the dealer , they found one in Illinois
I should get it by this weekend
Make sure it's the real deal HD4R100, not just "o yeah, she's heavy duty all right". Makes a big difference. Below is a pdf Roland posted showing the regular duty and HD part numbers by application.

I heard of that happening where the dealer told the customer it is a HD4R100 and it was a standard rebuild. I don't understand why Ford would even sell a standard rebuild when they know there are design flaws that were not addressed in a standard rebuild. They should be ashamed of themselves !!!
But the HD is a good bang for the buck. What torque converter are you using or does the HD come with a billet TC ? Personally I would not reuse that 6.0 cooler since who knows what is in it after the tranny went south. So if you do plan to reuse it take it out clean it and the all trans lines and add a trans filter to the return line. Dirty trans cooler or lines could take out the new trans.
Friend is getting it for me at his cost , (he works at the ford dealer),and a new 6.0 IC.
Transmission comes with a better tc than the regular.
Now all I have to do is wait , and I'm not doing to well, my truck is on my driveway , and I'm tempted to do a fluid flush to see if I can drive till the Hd gets here
Hmmmm, for that money and what Ford is known to do with "remans", should have gone with John Woods or BTS. They do have much better internals and come with a new billet TC. A Ford reman came out of my truck. It was ok, but certainly not the best for the money. It had a non-billet TC that was stamped steel, not to mention crappy clutches and non-upgraded pump that was no good. Brian and John's reputations precede them. Just my .02...take it for what it's worth.
