2003 Super Crew how much is it worth to you guys?

Story below, cliff notes below story.

My grandfather bought a brand new super crew in 2003, I was with him and he means a lot to me, he passed away in mid 2005. My grandmother kept driving the truck until last year when she had a small stroke and found out she has inoperable tumor inside of her and she couldn't drive anymore. I moved to Pennsylvania (originally in Texas) about 2 years ago, I couldn't really afford the gas in my centurion so I sold it. My grandmother gave the truck to my sister because she took her to all of her doctors appointments, ect and her car was junk. She has been driving it for a while but recently it overheated (she never checks any of the fluids) and she took it to a shop, they first said the overflow cap went bad and all the coolant evaporated or poured out. They replaced the cap, radiator, thermostat, because they said it cracked the radiator when it overheated. She drove it 3 days and it overheated again, brought it back and they said it has a bad headgasket. She doesn't want to keep the truck and they said they want to sell it after christmas. How much is it worth private party and whats a fair deal for a family memeber?

2003 F150 Super Crew XLT 4.6 automatic 120k miles 1 owner
New tires, new tune up, new battery, new radiator, thermostat, rear window re-sealed, new windshield, bed liner, running boards, chrome billet grill, rain guards, tinted windows, keyless entry, aftermarket radio.

-Needs headgasket.

I figured private $1500-2000. Family deal $1000?

If it was for you, she should give it to you for free.

$1500-2000 is about right for private party.

Because it is due to her neglect that the truck is trashed. If she cared for it, it could be worth $8000 on the high end, instead it is a parts truck for most.

The OP said "she never checks any of the fluids", now no, it does not prove anything, but it does make you wonder.

So for why should she give it to her brother for free, well, it was given to her (yes, for her services of driving grandma where she needed to be), apparently the OP was close to his grandpa, so to be a nice sister, let him just have it and fix it (if he wants it). Family should be nice to each other like that.

I'm not a lawyer, but watch Judge Judy, and if the truck was intended for both siblings the sister would be intitled to 1/2 the value of the truck not the entire value.

I agree that family is family, but unfortunately people get greedy when that "time" comes and it seems a shame to let $ come between people.

Yeah I wish she would give it to me, but she won't. I would offer to repair it and keep it in the family and agree to split the money if anything was to happen to it accident/forced to sell. I hope she will just forget about it and leave it in the garage but I know that won't happen. She destroyed her last 3 honda's and now this truck, which was her only vehicle. She is borrowing my dad's car to get her to and from work currently (1999 Crown victoria). My grandmother never offered me the truck or said anything about it. She just gave it to my sister when they said she couldn't drive anymore, I'm not entitled to 1/2 but I wish she would consider my emotional attachment and financial state, where I can't really afford it but I don't want to let it to leave the family but I guess sometimes you have to let go, we'll see how it all goes, they told me they won't do anything with the truck till after Christmas.
