body lift for turbo install?

Instead of cutting away the sound barrier and such on my 86' I figured a small body lift might be better for my turbo install as well as other future mods. I was thinking of just doing 1" puck lift. What do you guys think? Would that be enough?

i bent the cab seam up, then pounded it flat with a BFH. no problems at all with turbo or downpipe clearance after that.

The problem with body lifting an IDI is that the cab seam actually contacts the head when lifted straight up. That is why all body lift kits say "not for diesel". Body lifts work, but you need to BFH mod the cab to do so. The really tight part is between the firewall and the back of the engine which does not improve with lifting. That said, depending on the turbo, a body lift may be desireable for other clearances. I will probably add a small body lift to my project for intercooler piping clearance and to keep the firewall wiring a little further from the hotside components.

That's why I'm thinking of a 1" puck lift. Other than the fan shroud, would there be any other problems with just adding an inch?
