Nice truck, wish my 250 was that color.
Ya I'd leave the batteries till they quit. You don't always get. Hard start notice often they just won't start one day.
When one dies replace both.
Agreed, thanks for the advice. Again, this is the first time I have dealt with a diesel and certainly a dual battery setup. Neither of the batteries have the date indicators on them marked, so it is purely a guess as to when they were installed. I will keep close tabs on the starting process and look to the batteries first when I do notice hard starting. Luckily I am in GA, so the cold is not a big factor when dealing with deep cold starting.
Nice truck, finish your profile so we know where in GA.
Ok Saus next question. What and how did you get those wheels so polished?
I appreciate the bed decal by the way.
Search gpr led. Quick and simple mod to know if glow plugs are energized.
I have my led just laying on my brake controller til I add a guage pod.
When I bought the truck the tires were shot, so before mounting the new wheels I took all 4 off and had the truck on jack stands. The driver front is a pain in the *** to get on a jack stand by the way. I put the wheels on the ground in my yard and degreased them several times with Simple Green, took a light abrasive brush to them several times and let them dry. Then I took some metal polish (the kind used on chrome, aluminum, etc) and polished them by hand and places that needed extra attention I used a polishing pad on the Dremel. The result is what you see in the pictures. Although, the pictures are a little deceiving because 2 of the wheels have the clear coat pealing off, but you cannot see it unless you are close to them. I made sure the ridge between the clear coat and the rim itself was very clean.
Concerning the decal, I wanted something that was not overbearing, but could be recognized easily. I am not a gun nut, but I like my guns, have the right to own and shoot them in a safe manner and stand by my rights. 3 years ago a man broke into our home around 3 am and I guarantee the outcome of this event would have been different if I had not met him face to face with the business end of a 9mm pointed at him. He is now in prison for 20 years because he had a lot of prior convictions, including assault on a police officer with a knife...
The GPR mod is something I had not seen. I will be doing this over Christmas break, thanks for the heads up.
You and I started with the same truck, goal, mileage, and price - but the dark side got me (PMS syndrome). You're far better off to stay on task.
I learned my lesson about making things fast instead of making them more reliable a long time ago. I had a supercharged car from stock, but started modding it to make it just that little bit faster and handle better. The problem was, a few years down the road I had thousands of dollars into it and I had to keep tabs on several things on the car because of the mods. Each mod had another mod that was required to keep the engine/tranny/whatever from blowing up. It was a never ending vicious cycle that I was not comfortable with. I stopped doing that and started buying vehicles for their intended purpose and attempt to make them more reliable and last longer instead of faster.
I do appreciate the hard work that goes into a lot of these modded trucks and I do appreciate seeing them on the road. They are just not for me though, unless I win the lottery, then all cards are on the table.

First of all that truck of yours is one nice looking truck I find it hard yo believe that it has over 200k. Good job I like all the little details too. I want to touch on how cool I think the sticker on the bed is. I myself always say if someone wants to take my gun they can have it after they pry it out of my dead hand. I have had a few cars over the years that keep me in the poor house trying to make them faster. Now I am just an old dog that stays on the pouch. But I do enjoy watching the big dogs run by. My goals for my truck are along the lines of yours.
My truck / Blackie is the last pick up I will ever own and I am sure it will out last me.
Beautiful truck!! I did the same thing as you and looked long and hard for an older 1999-2003 Superduty with the 7.3L for towing our trailer and finally found what i was looking for! If you are planning on towing the only Mod i would suggest to you is what was suggested to me. Upgrading to a 6.0L(either the 26row or 31row) transmission cooler. Here is a pic of the stock cooler next to the 26row and 31 row. It bolts in at the same spot as the stock cooler. Huge difference over stock which will keep that trans running much cooler.
