i bought and installed the remote start last weekend, cut the keys and programmed them. all thats left is to activate. i have access to a snapon modif computer, does anyone know if you can activate it with this or something similar, or does the dealer HAVE to do it?

 

You HAVE to use the IDS to enable the remote start. No way around this. I am gonna post up pictures and step by step of my install in a couple of days. Also they will charge for an hour of labor at most dealers, which is $100 for labor. I was able to negotiate mine down to 50, but good luck.

 

hardest part of the install was plugging the thing in behind the glove box, awkward angle. still only took 10 minutes. went down the street and had lowes cut my keys and i programmed them. but why call it plug and play if its not?

 

On older trucks, you would have to splice wires, solder etc. This is really easy to do on these trucks. Just take it to the dealer, have them turn it on using the IDS and enjoy man!
