I currently have an 89 F150 with the 300 and a M5OD (manual) transmission and manual 4x4; however I've found a parts truck with a great trans and body (bad motor) for $600. I'm wondering if I could swap in the auto trans from the parts truck into mine, if everything will bolt up right? I know I can take the steering column, cluster, starter, and linkage and what not from the parts truck, but what else would I need? Reason being where I live manuals arent all that common as there are tons of hills and whatnot. Any advice or help is appreciated, thanks!
Not exactly sure, I asked the guy to send me a picture of the door jamb sticker or if he knows...I would assume its an E4OD, out of a 1990 w/ 300 and RWD
You have to completely disassemble the donor E4OD transmission to swap in a 4x4 output shaft so you can install your transfer case. It's not a simple swap.
Electrically you would need the computer (PCM) from the donor as well as wiring harness to hook up to the transmission to the PCM.
