Welcome to FTE.

The only way to tell is to check the stroke. You can do that through a spark plug hole using a stiff wire. More information can be found at the top of this forum on how to do it.

360 and 390 engines are identical externally in any given year.

Another method to determine the engine size is the data label on the drivers side door .
The engine code will indicate the engine size.

Tico, as you found, the only way to tell is measure the stroke or check the crank numbers.

This will tell you what the vehicle was built with, NOT what is in it right now

I can not check the stroke because the engine does not reach all the way around stick in a point and I can't go more, I'm don't know where or what causes it, and the crank numbers are 2T and 23 does all I can see, when I try to turn it sticks to the right or left. Gracias amigo

look at your vin number and if its 4th letter is a Y then the truck came with a 360 if its an H it came with a 390 but thats only if it is the original motor to the truck..... casting codes don't mean anything on a ford motor thats a cheby thing the only thing it refers to is like the C8AE and C9AE mean 1968 and 1969 respectively i hope this helps you a little.... and if you pour some Marvel Mystery oil or another type of penetrating lube down the spark plug holes it can help free up you engine sometimes...... more information.... the 360 has a stroke of 3.5" and the 390 is 3.78" both motors share the same bore of 4.05" they are the exact same block and one of the common things you learn is that if you use the 390 rods and crank with a 360 piston it raises your compression ratio from 8 to 9-9.5 and since your heads are pre 72 they tend to be better compression heads but they have soft valve seats which can wear/wash out with the gas they make us use these days since these motors were designed to run off of leaded fuel..... good luck tico if you have any more questions feel free to ask

A 2T crank is a 360 crank. I just threw one away after putting in a 2U 390 crank.
