Where's it been?
You always wonder what path your truck has taken for the past 45 yrs or so. I know my 67 SB stepside was a US dept of agriculture vehicle from the vin code and remains of dash decal. The windshield had the remains of a GA inspection sticker which I don't think have been required for at least 25 yrs so likely it was never far from it's current home. No idea if it has 52,000 or 152,000 miles; neither would surprise me. The other day I was doing something under the hood and the light was such that I spotted what appeared to be a block of wood inside the crossmember; what the hell...? My son, being more agile, crawled under and started pulling out good size pieces of bamboo that had grown inside the crossmember! Now I know that whatever else it may have done, it spent some time just sitting.

Aw yeah I pretty much know the history of my 4wd 71 f250 as it was a fleet truck of Kaiser Steel Corp. at Eagle Mountain Iron Ore Mine Ca. for about 5yrs then sold to one of the office staff Clarks. He had it painted blue put in new seat cover headliner big white spook wheels with off road ties. He then sold to a friend of mine which had it for a month as I traded a old 63 scout +$500 for the truck. That was late 1977 with 70,000.
on it.
I put a c/o camp on it, installed a V8 390 in 1978 and use it as often as possible through out the yrs until about 6 yrs ago when gas went up to $5.60 a gallon for the cheap stuff here in town.
Sold the camper as that 9-10 mpg killed the enjoyment taking on the road any more. Now just hotel it using the car..
So someday, I'll just give it to my son when I done tinkering with it.

I bought mine new in the Fall of 1971, it was the last '71 on the lot as the '72s had arrived; $3800. F250 camper special. It has crossed the country several times and seen all the states but those in the Northeast, Alaska and Hawaii. She has a major problem right now, which I am investigating, so she sits in my shop and slowly is being worked on. In fact I'm draining the transmission today and hope to pull the engine and trans in the coming week. The original 360 was removed and a 361 installed. She has a C6 transmission. At six miles to the gallon she stays in the stable now until those times only a truck can do the job. 178,038 miles

I paid 300 bucks for my '68 F250 CS, bought it from the original owner (well, his in-laws actually bought it new he told me.) It spent it's whole life in the little town where I live, even having been built 3 hours away in San Jose. He did equipment repair and used it to tow equipment back to his shop to work on so it had a lot of towing miles on it, 3rd gear was pretty noisy when I started driving it. It had been sitting untouched for 10 years when I got it.

My '69 F250 Ranger Camper Special was purchased new by my dad when I was 4 years old. He drove to work every day until the gas crunch in the 70's. Then it spent it time just hauling stuff when needed. I drove it to school in the early eighties ( lots of power brake burnouts!). Now its all cleaned up and sits in my shop it needs a few little things but I still take it out and drive it some days.

I got my truck from my dad, who bought it from a local painter back in about '84. (I'm 3rd owner behind my old man) He paid $200 for it because it had no engine or trans. He Dropped a used 351C and C4 in and drove it to hell and back several times. In '95, he bought a brand new ranger and the old F-100 got parked. The truck sat around for the next 18 years, being started up every once in awhile, until I got it as a graduation gift in January of '13. I have since rebuilt/ fixed up/ modified the entire thing. I'm currently on my first drive to hell and back with it! LOL

My 69 F350 was bought as a cab and chassis. Rufus, a welder by trade, fabricated the dump bed that's on it. He then used it to transport metal, scrap and his larger welding rig to do field work. It spent it's entire life under a shelter, but was only maintained when necessary. I'm convinced the front tires, if not original were only the second set it ever had. And due to the stiffness of the compound and giant missing chunks of tread I'd go with original. I purchased the truck from his widow, so though her name was on the title, I'm actually the second owner. Trying to stay original.

With my 70 F100, I'm the third owner but the first outside the original family. It's from Pocatello, Idaho bought by Pappy Cothern off the lot, served RV trailer towing duties for his young family and passed on to Pap's daughter around 1992. She's is married to my friend and former co-worker. I bought it because they were about to scrap it through the local air district's buy-off program. Except for a PS swap in the early 80s, it was dead stock and even has the original spare tire.
On the 71 F250, I'm the second owner... it has lived in CA and OR towing a boat and typical household duties. The previous owner is my department secretary's ex husband and could not drive a stick anymore due to diabetes and a weak left leg. It is very unmolested. I still owe her a ride in it.
The "73"... the best I can tell it's a 2WD cab on a 74 4WD frame. Registration is straight up so no worries there. The kid I got it from bought it from a family friend in San Jose. The mud and some random paperwork told me it's from the Central California (the caked mud was reddish indicating a high iron oxide content)... maybe between Prunedale or Paso Robles.

I am the third owner of my 70 F-250 CC 4wd. I have the original dealer registration that shows that it was bought 1/29/70 from Friendly Ford of Fairbanks by Green Construction Co. It originally was Yucatan Gold but they sprayed it Cat Yellow. Talking to people, Green Construction was a cheapskate outfit that didn't buy anything new unless it was a big project which in this case was for the Trans-Alaska PipeLine System. Green Construction built pumpstations 8 and 9 starting in 1973. It was surplussed after 1977 where a friend of mine bought it, and used it until I bought it in 2006.

I recently bought my Grandpas old farm truck. He's recently started using the 1981 F Series to do his daily chores.
I learned to drive on the farm in this truck, so I snatched it up!
They only ever made 1 truck I learned to drive in!
It looks better now, and I've started replacing brakes from front to back, but the 302 purs like a kitten!
Here it is the day I bought it.
It's a long story full of family drama, but here she is!
Long story short:
98 Y.o. grandpa scrapped it. Wanted room in the yard.
Bought it from scrapyard that weekend.
Had it shipped from N.J. to Ohio.

Bought my '68 CS, with a 9' cabover camper, in '71 when the older couple that bought it new couldn't climb in the camper bed. The camper never came off until we moved from La Crescenta, CA to Gainesville, GA in '99. It has been from Canada to Baja all over the west for all those years usually towing either dirt bikes or boats. The camper is gone now and I use the truck to get my wife mulch, rocks and other stuff for her gardening.
