Go From F250 to F350?
So a dealer near me has a Platinum the way I would want it and it's priced right. Only problem is that it is a F350, not a F250.
So other than heavier springs, bigger blocks and more tow capacity what is the differences between a F250 and an F350?
Is the actual weight of the two very close? (for gas mileage)
I know some states are also GVWR sensitive (this F350 is 11.5K) and while my state (TN) is not, does anyone know if NC is? (we may be moving in a few years)

I have a 2012 F350, i ordered it with what i wanted, the cost was vary close i want to say 1000 or 1500 more expensive, but the brakes were different as well as the extra capacity, I am not sure it was worth it but for what i paid for the truck it was not that much of a difference. if you like buy it. that has always worked for me.

It used to be the F350 srw had an overload leaf, higher rear lift blocks, and hydroboost brakes. Now Ford put a higher lift block in the F-250 and dropped the hydroboost brakes on the F350. So, really the only difference now is the overload leaf spring.
There was some talk about the F350 srw axles possibly having more splines, but I've never seen any proof one way or the other.

I just got my first 350srw. I've always had 250's.
I can confirm that the overload spring is there and that the rear blocks are taller than the 2011 f250 I had. Otherwise, the door sticker with the 11,500 GVWR is the only difference I have found.
I don't have hydro boost brakes but I do have larger brakes than my 2011 250 had, but all super duty trucks have larger brakes now, so it's not a 350 thing.
I think that the few slight improvements made to all super duty trucks for the 2015 models outweigh whatever you may find to be different between the 250 and the 350. If I were you I wouldn't worry about the decision and get the 2015. You only live once. The possibility of you moving in a few years to nc is a thing that wouldn't get in my way if I were in your shoes. Cross that bridge when/if you get to it.

This was only true for the 2011's - where the SRW F350's had hydroboost, the F250's vacuum assist. From 2012 hydroboost was only fitted to the duallies.
Apart from the rear block and overload spring (and the GVW sticker) they are the same trucks. I think you can even option the F250 in such a way that it comes with the overload spring and taller rear block anyway.
Your insurance may also be impacted. My current insurer didn't want to touch an F350 (considered it a commercial vehicle), but was fine with an F250. Maybe worth checking first.
