To buy or not to buy

Been a while guys .... I'm considering trading in my truck for a 14 or 15 F350. Here is my dilemma, I only drive 10 miles to work and 10 miles home. As of right now even on a cold day the truck reaches normal operating temperature by the time I get there. I don't like driving anything other than a big diesel truck and it has been that way for about the past 5-6 years. Will I have more problems than benefits from these newer trucks? I also need one to pull a large 5er to the desert, not just because I want one.

I'm in the same boat minus the 5er. My 1990 Cummins Ram just isn't cutting it in the heater department combined with that fact that I want a new truck. I plan to get the rapid heat option and remote start options to hopefully it'll warm up fairly quick.

Yeah I sold my 01 F350 for an 07 Cummins with a 5.9. After driving it for almost 6 months I still do not feel 100% comfortable in the truck. I just don't feel secure. Even my 01 with some issues I felt more comfortable. And having a DRW truck has started to become an inconvenience as of late with work and our travels ....

Not if it's a diesel and your going by the factory, idiot, gauges. If it's a 6.0 it takes app. 20 highway miles to be fully heat saturated.

I currently have a 2000 7.3 and a 2015 6.7. I just old my 2004 6.0. I will rate them on warm up based strictly on temperature gauge and what I feel coming from the heater vents.

2000- longest warm up time
2004- medium warm up time
2015- quickest warm up time of the three in my opinion

I think with a 10 mile commute you would be ok with the diesel. Don't think you would have any real issues with the emissions.

Get the supplemental heater. that will help produce instant heat.

Is the supplemental heater for me or the truck? I'll be fine because I plan to get heated seats (And to keep the Mrs' Buns nice and toasty)

Just want to make sure I'm not setting myself up for trouble. My dad in his '10 has a shorter commute than me and at 60k still has not had an issue (Knocks on wood)

For almost three years I have been doing a 10 mile commute with mine. Seems to warm up quick enough with the supplemental heater. Wish I had heated seats though.

supplemental heater is an electric heater for you and the Mrs. Buns. Truck doesn't care how cold it is.

It will start producing heat right away.

Heated seats are a must have.
