Exclamation need some help with 351w efi performance mods

Hey guys need some info got a stock 351w efi with long tubes on it.. I just acquired a gt40 tubular intake and explorer lower intake, gt40 heads with upgraded springs 1.7 rockers and new pushrods and e303 cam.. need to know what else I need to make this rig run right. Trying to find a MAF conversion kit and I know I'll need bigger injectors not sure what size. Any help from some veterans on here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That Explorer lower is no good to you it's too narrow for the big windsor, you're going to have to source a Lightning/GT40 351 lower. I'm no fan of the E303 either, you would be better off with a modern grind that better suits the powerband this package will make.. which is solidly in the 0-4500rpm or so range. The Comp 35-349-8 would be my suggestion.

Ok I was told this setup would put the "powerband" between 1200 and 3500 rpm.. The lower matches up to the upper just fine you're saying it wwon't match up with the motor? Didn't these come off of a windsor?

The 351 Windsor is about 2" wider than a 302 Windsor, so while the heads may bolt on to the block, they will be too far apart for the lower intake manifold to fit.

From a cam with 220/280 duration? In a truck it won't make any useable power below 3000rpm.

The 5.0 block is smaller than the 5.8 block so yeah.. it won't work.

what year motor and rig is this for?

conanski has you on the right track to get a different cam. going with a car style intake on a truck will also require some creative fab to get the throttle cable and kickdown cable hooked up correctly.

so, my question would be the same...for a flat tappet 5.8 block, what would be the best cam. 2nd, what about intake manifolds on the cheap for efi?(speed density)

I see the GT40P heads cam on the post 1997 explorers and Mountaineers but in 5.0 size...what intake manifold is going to fir these heads in 5.8?

1. Crane 444232
2. Professional Products Typhoon, and yes it'll work with GT40p heads.

THE LIGHTING 5.8 INTAKE WOULD ALSO WORK WITH THE EXPLORER 5.0 UPPER?

Only problem is the Lightning(GT40) 5.8 lower will most likely cost more than the whole Typhoon intake system.. if you can find one... they are not available new anymore.
