Dumb? Use 87-96 frt fenders?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, BUT,
I have a chance to pick up a really clean 92 (roller w/trans&it-case etc but minus motor) I'm planning on using the bed off it for my 82 since it'll bolt on and the drivers side door.
But,
I'd like to use the front fenders AND keep the bullnose grill/lights, is this possible?
(I know I can do a complete frt clip swap to the euro but I like the looks of the bullnose much better.)
Thanks

No. The grills are completely different.

If you cut the front off your old fenders, you could graft them on the newer fenders.

True, but I'd hate to cut into the 92 fenders since they're dent/ding free AND rust free.
I can always try to trade the 92 fenders for 80-86 fenders I suppose.

The truck would look better with all the wheel openings matching. It would also be the only one that has the 80 to 86 front grill with the 95 style wheel openings.

There's more than just the fenders to worry about. It would be easiest and probably cheapest to swap the entire front clip. Personally, I would just leave it alone unless you have money to burn.

If he runs the bed off the newer truck, he could run the newer fenders if he grafts the forward part of his old fenders to the new ones. Then he could use his early model hood, radiator support, and grill assembly.

You do realize the bed is not going to be an exact match, correct?

That would be a lot if work, but I think it would be really cool, and very unique

This something I've thought about awhile back. I'm not sure it would be easy to blend though. Mating the '87 outer skin to the '80 inner skin could be tricky.

I've been thinking about this too. Just got back from a trip through my field of dreams noting the differences between bullnose, bricknose and OBS.

Nice drawings on emgee's post. I think it may not be necessary to graft the whole top edge using an 87-91 fender, but a 92-96 fender does have differences in the cowl area. There also may be something that could be done in the lower front corner should you use the 87-91 bumper instead of the 80-86 bumper. Last issue would be the side marker. 87 and later has it integrated to the headlight. I kind of like the clean look of the later design and may look at relocating the marker light.

Maybe another way of looking at this would be what would it take to put a bullnose grill on a bricknose?
