Upholstery help

I am working on recovering the bench seat in my 69 F100. Not knowing any better, I tossed the old seat covers without removing the j channels from the bottom part. I ordered a new set off amazon that came from acme upholstery. It does not have a j channel on it, only the plastic tubing to attach hog rings to. There are no places to attach hog rings on the back and front of the lower part of my bench seat. I finally found a place that sells j channels and they will be coming in soon.

Are j channels standard on all 67-72 f100s or did a previous owner have a different seat installed? Second, how do I attach j channels to the upholstery without a sewing machine?

I'm not sure what you call J channels, but when I re-covered mine I used the hard plastic bead stitched to edge of the cover to the holes on the seat frame.

I have an old bench seat in the garage.
I'll take a look at it. Is this J channel along the bottom front or back?

The long plastic clip (I've heard called a j-hook, j-clip, or j-channel) runs on the front and back of the seat cover I removed. The sides of the old seat cover are attached with hog rings.

The new seat has the plastic tubing. I wonder if I could insert metal coat hanger wire where the plastic tube is and attach the long plastic clip to that with hog rings and attach it all to the seat frame.

Thanks for the input.

ah you're talking about after market seat cover

most upholstery has a channel that a "listing wire " goes in then you hog ring around that to pull tight .
