Just so you know if you have power locks the lock switch us entirely different and its really hard to rewire i never figured it out. It might be worth swapping the harness.

I had no clue, just "***"umed they would be similar. Seller already cut the connectors off, and kept the switches, so I may be swapping parts. I do need my lock cylinder for sure. Appreciate the heads up.

New door is on, ended up using my wiring harness and my lock solenoid, but my harness plugged right into the window motor. The lock solenoid that came with the new door had a different connector (didn't fit my harness) and the wires were different colors. Just need to recruit someone to help hold the door while I adjust it, should be on the road this weekend

Didn't realize the hard part was going to be aligning the new door. Pretty happy with in / out, left / right, etc.. Gaps look equal all the way around. What's the deal with the striker? There seems to be very little movement with the plate behind the pillar. I guess you're only supposed to need a tiny adjustment at the most.

Door shuts and opens, doesn't seem as "solid" but I have the internal panel off in case I had trouble when I shut it. What gives the door that "spring" when you open it? Using the inside or the outside handle releases the latch, but it just sits there. I've Googled up and down, can't figure it out. I have the Helm manual, and I'm still lost.

And lastly, the original door has a simple gloss black trim piece that runs along the bottom of the door. I assume it's glued on. Will it come off with heat? Is it reusable? If so, what's the best adhesive?

Its held on by double sided tape. I would get some 3M tape and stick it on, the original should come off with heat.

Hello, sorry to revive such an old thread,
But, I am about to embark on replacing all 4 doors on my 04 XLT Lariat with the correct color doors from an 08
I have the complete wiring harness from the 08, but it is the plug in the side of the jamb style and mine is hidden inside somewhere on the 04
Should i just pull everything out of the 08 doors and use the OG stuff? i dont think the switches will fit into the 08 cards and i'd really like to use them as they are much nicer than the 04 style.......
I am not afraid to rewire what i need to, but am having a hard time locating the pinouts and diagrams.
thanx for any help
