Any tricks to free up froze smog pump?

Started up the plow truck the other day and the smog pump is frozen. Its not needed besides for being an idler for the belt. It doesn't look like a reroute of a shorter belt is possible with the setup. The air hose to the pump runs up to the passenger wheel well, can I just dump some oil down the air tube to lube the pump and then try to work it free? I was able to half **** get a pry bar on two of the three bolts in the pulley and try to turn it over but it wouldn't move and I couldn't get a good hold on the bolt heads with the pry bar. I can try to get in there with a strap wrench and try that too. Any tips?

This is on a 88 F250 with a 351.

Check closely, if you just remove the pulley, can you run a shorter belt and clear everything?

It worked on my '89 302, though I know a 351 has different layout.

Large pliers made for oil filters with the curved jaws. I think that's what I used on my 90 bronco plow truck with a 5.8.

I did do a bypass on our 95 with 351 and that was the first thing I looked at with this plow truck but it didn't look possible. The way the tensioner was the belt couldn't have a clear path.

I don't want to take it all apart, I'd rather beat on it with a hammer and smash it before actually working on it. lol

I haven't had a chance to play with it yet. I think I will start with dumping some oil down the tube and wait, then beat on it some to see if it will turn.

Remove it then use a string to measure a replacement belt length. Ford in their infinite wisdom has dozens of belt routing options based on model, engine, accessories and phases of the moon.

Best thing to do is go to summit racing and get the delete bracket and a shorter belt. It took me about a half an hour to do.

While there is merit to doing as suggested it is almost free to remove the air pump then measure the new belt required. On the other hand asking for an OTS belt is easier to do.

Was thinking of going this route on mine to keep the belt geometry stock, but appears they only make them for the 5.0?

If you Google around you'll see references that these also fit the 351W. There is a review on one site (Ford Racing Mustang Smog Pump Eliminator/Delete (79-93) 5.0L M-8604-A50) for the Ford Racing M-8604-A50 product that states it fit perfect on the 351W. I also found reference to the Proform product for the 302/351.

I'm not an expert so the above advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
