Oil cooler reseal parts source

I noticed today my oil cooler is leaking a little oil. I remember reading that some brands of orings should be avoided. Rockauto has A set from Doorman with gaskets and all 4 orings for $25.79. Anyone know if they are ok?

Rock auto has the victor reinz for 6 bucks. These are OE. Gs33545

Avoid dorman. Or get the motorcraft ones at the dealer.

I just got mine off e-bay for about $45 delivered- OEM o-rings and felpro gaskets. Not sure if I got fleeced a bit, but it looks like quality.

Is there a difference between the 1983 6.9 idi oil coolers I have heard that there are 6 O rings in my 83 but really don't know I can't find anywhere that has them listed?

I helped a guy put some on an 86. We went to a diesel shop because the two Ford dealers didn't have them. Got the o-rings and wow...they were $25-26 a piece! They were in motocraft
packs. Tried to get some to match at a rubber and gasket shop. He said that he had some but they wouldn't take the heat and break down prematurely.

That's a good question, I seem to recall reading that about the '83s.

And looking at Rock Auto now I see the gasket kits are listed for '83 to '94, but the O-rings only cover '88 to '94; so only the 7.3 on the o-rings. Which doesn't make sense unless they're just avoiding confusion because of the first year 6.9 so they're leaving the entire run of the 6.9 off??

They're just not showing O-Rings at all for any 6.9.

If I remember correctly, the man at the diesel shop said that the older ones had more o-rings. Not positive though. The 86 had 4. I have an E series manual and it shows more o-rings.
