Anyone have door map pocket opening ideas?

As I'm putting my truck back together I started thinking of what else I could do with this late opening in the door. Those repop map pocket inserts are little pricy and the delete panel is boring. What have you guys done?? Like to see or hear any creative ideas.

I wa trowing around the idea of using a stock delete panel, add a speaker and try and cover it with a speaker grill from old drive in window speakers.

I had the pieces from the orginal. I put them back together with a product call "Q-Bond" Painted it silver. Looks good if you don't get right down on it. I didn't want to pay the $200 for reproduction. Plus the reproduction ones are only in black. Before and after pictures below.

I had a friend sew me up some leather faces with zippers (I bought the materials at a leather store here in town) Made the frames out of plywood using the original metal plates as templates. Here's the end result:

For $200.00 the replacement pockets are not a bad deal. Seeing how you get both pockets and trim ring plus hardware.
These are good to have considering the limited storage area these trucks offer.
Due to the cab compartment design, there's also limited areas for speakers, that's why this area is popular for speakers.
You want to make sure the speakers are waterproof. Here's an example of Fords design to waterproofing their speakers.

You get the idea.
With a creative mind and a little money you can design a nice speaker system for these trucks. I hope to have my sound system complete by June of 2015
Saving money for my system now.

What about just putting a trim ring on it, and leaving it as a large open storage area? If you lack the skills I bet any local metal shop (or, better yet: hit up the metal works program at a local tech college) could whip up a nice looking trim piece in no time. I was contemplating that until my discovered that the original map pockets are kind of a cool nostalgia point.
