broken vanity mirror - 2006 expy
anyone have a schematic showing how the passenger's side vanity mirror attaches to the sunvisor?
it is currently hanging by the wires and i cannot get it to attach back to the visor. i'm thinking it is broken beyond repair, but a schematic would help.
it also appears that in order to change the visor, i have to pull the headliner loose as no one thought to include a plug that could be accessed by removing the visor pivot ..... frustrating.
if my suspicion is correct ... this one isn't getting fixed until spring.

the whole mirror assembly is just glued in?
would not have guessed that.
most of the plastic tabs appear to be broken .... so i'm not sure what's left to glue.
there were some metal clips in there, so i thought the assembly would be clipped in somehow.
i will pull some wire out and look for the plug .... on a slightly warmer day though ...
thanks!

Sorry if this makes me sound like an *** but....it's a vanity mirror. Clip the wires and flip the visor up (or completely remove it....it's dangerous unless it's all the way down). Are ya gonna put your make up on while you're driving? Or is this your old ladys truck?
(I'm sorry. I was on a roll. The visor really is dangerous unless it's all the way down.)

it's my "new" truck, so I'd kinda like to keep it as nice as I can for as long as I can.
it's the passenger's side vanity mirror, btw. mine's just fine ... why, you ask ... because when it's 10 degrees out side, dark, and we are going home I don't care how I look or if there is something in my teeth .... the wife, well, not so much. while far from being high maintenance, growing up with braces, she's paranoid about stuff being stuck in her teeth
... now if I could just teach her to be GENTLE with stuff ....
if it's really just glued in there, I think im stuck replacing the whole visor, I don't see any fixing it with glue, there's just no tabs left to glue.

I've seen a few lighted vanity mirrors where the little tab has broken off (that controls the light) causing the light to stay on. You ever try to drive at night with a white light on in the cab? Not only does it affect your night vision but it's a drain on the battery. If it were me, I'd unplug it (or clip the wires if it can't be unplugged). If it looks that bad without the mirror, reglue it. If not, toss it in the trash. Functionality is great but only if it comes without a cost. Would you keep your air suspension like it was from the factory even if it cost you $4000 to fix? Most wouldn't which is why they sell coil over conversions.

meborder --- It looks like I was typing as you were posting. My reply was mostly for alloro.
I understand about a "new" truck and wanting to keep it "new". My thoughts are still the same about cost v functionality. I don't know what a new visor would cost but before you spend $$$ on one, try some Gorilla Glue. Once you've applied the GG, make sure you clamp it well as it dries. (GG expands.) The worst you get by trying the GG first is the small expense of the GG itself. (It's not cheap but I'm sure a heck of a lot cheaper than a new visor.)

yep, that's probably what it is going to take to fix it. Mine has the tan interior, but aside from that, $30 isn't bad for a fix.
Sammy, the light isn't stuck on, just that the whole housing is dangling by the wires.
i'll have some time tomorrow i think i'll take a pic and post it just for fun. maybe someone will have a better idea on how to fix it.
