Twin Turbo Build!

You have to consider ford didn't make these motors to race. They made them to last and they are proven to be reliable. You probably could add a 100 HP with forced induction with no issues but longevity would be affected. I've read some of your posts and I don't think you'll ever be happy with a gas motor. If the 4.30's aren't enough, then it might be in your best interest to go with the 6.7.

The two biggest things that caught my eye in this thread was the 5hp gain from a 5 star tune, which just proves the big gain that is felt is through the throttle by wire and shift strategies, and the fact he said he has 4.88 gears. The 4.88 cut gear has just very recently been released by Yukon, and if he had retro fitted the old gears in, that would have been some very useful info on some part numbers for bearings.

This isn't a smart comment John, just my thoughts. You get 10 mpg, I think 13 mpg would probably be average for your terrain and work load for most. I'm willing to bet, you will get a whopping 13-14 mpg with the diesel if you drive it in the same manner. My bosses ccsb 4x4 6.7 is averaging 15.5 running around here locally, and he is not an aggressive driver at all. He gets 17-18 on the highway and he has to keep it under 75 for that. I don't know his gearing, but do know he has said he would rather have the gas. Do you put enough miles on it to justify the cost? Maybe you just want it, and that's fine too. But many of us in the 6.2 have been down the diesel route before, and there is a reason why we are here. Good luck on the new truck if that's what you want. Let's swap gears before you trade though, please!

Hey John, my cousin has a 2011 f250 with the 6.7 diesel. He's an electrician and hauls about 200 to 300 lbs of tools and ladders and has never towed. I asked him why he choose the 6.7 and he said he did it for the great mpg. Now 5 years later he's looking at f150's with the ecoboost because his mpg aren't what he expected. He gets about 15mpg with mostly highway miles. If you drive with a lead foot you won't get great mileage with the diesel either. Good luck with your decision!

Hey all,
After much contemplation the truck is getting a 6.6L built at Livernois and will most likely go with a whipple. My biggest challenge with the turbo was the fact that I am located in a remote community on the West Coast of Canada. With a twin turbo system you need access to parts, experts, and dyno (tuning) time which I didn't have. The whipple is bolt on and go power so it should be much more reliable and easy form a maintenance standpoint.
I'll have the twin turbo kit for sale if anyone is interested in it.
I'll also have all my forged parts from the 6.2L build (pistons, rods, crank) if anyone is interested.
Wish I could have kept going as when the boost hit on this thing it was incredible...
