Starting to wish this truck wasn't lifted so damn high...I can't see what it is it must be down in there deep then...it's gettin dark out over here and wicked cold so I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
There are two connectors down on the side of the aluminum fuel filter housing below the one you unplugged. It is the top one of those two. It will have a green wire with a red stripe.
Now that definitely helps. Gonna unplug it IF this 30amp fuse breaks again...what exactly does it do anyway? I really don't need it plugged in at all? It wont hurt nothing in the long run?
Can you give me any helpful general tips or links? I'm a first time diesel truck owner and I'm looking to keep this 300k+ beast running strong all winter long hopefully!
If that fuse blew once, it WILL blow again. the fuel filter heater inside the fuel bowl shorts out and blows that fuse. That fuse is also the power to your PCM. unplug it and leave it unplugged. You don't need it and it won't hurt a thing.

See post #4.
Yeah, working on/around the fuel bowl, you pretty much have to kneel on the radiator support. I spent a couple hours last weekend replacing the fuel lines and plugging a leak up there. Knee pads are a big plus, as is an LED forehead light.

You're gonna get the most help and advice you could ever get right here on FTE. This is a great bunch of people with a lot of knowledge.
Well I greatly appreciate the help, good to know this issue is easily solvable just like that old glow plug relay changing issue I had a while back... =)
This diesel truck is a fun learning process so far!
One more question for you though, when the engine block is cold, and I start it up, is it normal for tons of billows of white smoke to pour out for around 10 minutes or so? My exhaust comes up through the bed and behind the cab window... I think it's pissing my neighbors off somethin' fierce... They own a Prius and they glare at me like my truck is polluting the earth when I fire it up cold...
May have a few bad glow plugs causing the smoke on cold starts. Try plugging the block heater in over night and see if that helps with the smoke. If so, might wanna replace the glow plugs.
Yes yes thank you I'm sure I'll be here whenever something goes wrong with my 96 250 powerstroke, I just wanna know more about it really and I wanna customize it even more than it already is! I gotta get some pics of this beast up on my profile if I can. It's a real pretty truck! =)
