Question FLOOR JACK ???

My old faithful Craftsman 2 ton floor jack finally gave up , I've had this thing since the 1980s . So i went on sears.com and started looking all the reviews said POS china made and died in 6 months . So I guess a Craftsman is out of the question .
Any of you have good feed back on a replacement ? I checked Harbor freight and the 3 ton has great reviews and under $100 ? I might just give that a try ( yes I will use jack stands ) I don't need another Bleed thread .lol

I have an MTD jack(Adv Auto) and a Crapsman. Both marginal POS in their own rights.

I had an Allied for many years til it finally died. Never knew how much I would miss that jack. It was smooth and easy to work. I got the MTD and found I hated it(will not hold up, always creeps). The Sears has quick pump. Last about a week, now takes forever to go up. Then still have to give it like 3 more pumps to get it to start picking something up. I hate it.

I want something reliable and long lasting(is that possible anymore). Have wondered about the HF alum frame race jacks. Don't need another "floor model" sitting around the garage. Floor model, as in sitting looking pretty but doesn't work for $#&$%(.

I do have an 1980's Craftsman in the trailer, it belongs to racing buddy. I carry it since he has open trailer. Nice, smooth, works like its suppose to.

I have the HF 3 ton and works good for what I use it for. Gets high enough to clear both front tires to use jack stands. Under $100 was a good deal for me.

Hey Mike. You might be better off getting your old one repaired. I've not done it but I'm thinkin' maybe someone local that repairs/reseals hydralic rams might be able to do it.

I bought one of those "GM Goodwrench" 3-ton floor jacks from O'Reilley's four months ago and have used it a lot. Works well. Seems like it was a little pricey. Can't remember.

My floor jack, 4 (6-ton) jack stands, engine hoist and engine stand all came from O'Reilly's.

3-ton jack stands are really too short to be effective at raising up a truck to a workable height.

Cool. Let us know what you find Mike. I know I've throw numerous jacks away in the past. I am sure a bunch of us have. I always had customers buy me new ones as part labor. But now there's too much China junk in the market. It's a sad day when HF puts out a better product, according to the above, than Sears. Resealing 'em just hit me when I read your thread.

Ohh. You're taking me way back. And I got a sinus headache. Seems like I do remember the engine hoist and stands in the early 90's maybe late 80's catalogs. I was the Motorsports Parts Manager at Lou Grubb Ford/Power Ford/now Autonation Ford from 1989 to 2008. I've never sold one of these. My 1995 catalog lists the engine stand. Was part number M17004A.

I got me self a harbor freight 3 ton jack acouple years back been using it ever since on many projects and it's still working great. They come with a warranty for a year or something like that. Atleast when I got mine. And I have there aluminum jack stands I use on smaller stuff. Here's my (heavy duty)jack stands and harbor freight jack in action.

From what I have read; the steel harbor freight 3 ton jack is really good. Aluminum are hit or miss.

Back in early 90's got a floor jack it was a 2.5 ton as that's all they had back then at Costco. It worked great a for many yrs until I sold it. But was a little hard trying to lift the whole rear of my truck with the c/o camper on it that was always load with camping gear & stuff. I think it was an Allied made in China was I remember was on the box..

I have a Michelin 3-1/2 ton floor Jack that worked great! Until the seals blew out. It still lifts things but it sinks fast. Need to have it fixed. Too big and too well built to just throw away.
