If you did make something you have to still deal
with all connections so that you could capture all
the crap it knocks loose. How are you going to isolate
just the oil to water heat exchanger aka : Oil Cooler?
Then if you get too aggressive think about all that water
with chemicals in it and where it will go. Milkshake anyone?

I understand that it's the coolant side that plugs, I was thinking the machine would do the same thing with a coolant cleaning solution as the ATF....wishful thinking was more like it, lol. I was also thinking machine to cooler and directly back to machine which I would have to assume would filter out whatever it flushed...but again, wishful thinking at best.

Ohh, I was still thinking external oil coolers when you asked. Yeah, the connections just aren't there to get a good flush going on for the engine oil cooler.

Would be nice if we could get to the ports properly, but by the time you get down that far you might as well just put a new one in.

Just means you're one step further towards a breakout idea.

You need to remember that it is not the oil side of the 6.0 oil cooler that is plugging, it is the coolant side, this hot flusher appears to be an oil type flusher and probably won't work with coolant.

I believe your right, just wishful thinking anyway. It would be nice to be able to back flush an oil cooler from time to time if anyone thought they may be loosing flow but now I understand why that really isn't possible/feasible.

I ran this set-up on my 03.IPR High Flow Coolant Filter Ford 6.0 w/Coolant Manifold You can back flush the coolant side of the cooler by removing the inlet hose from the filter, attach garden hose, remove drivers side block plug and lower hose from radiator.I would let the hose run full blast for 30 min.I did this a couple times a year until there was no longer debris in the filter.Truck had Ford Gold coolant and 6-8 degree temp spread.I think this is more of a maintenance thing tho. After I did the VC-9 flush and clogged the cooler no amount of back flushing would help the 20 degree temp spread.
