I went to NAPA and they had some "breather hose" on a spool in the back.
It was about $2.

Any hose will work, though the rubber ones will usually get very soft if you have oil coming up into the aircleaner.

If you have a lot of oil coming up into the breather, you need to check your PCV valve for proper operation. If it's good, then your engine has a lot of wear.

I won't drive the truck if that isn't connected as the PCV system will be pulling dirty air directly into the engine. It wouldn't take much grit to ruin rocker arms, as that's the first thing the grit will hit. But then it'll move down to the innards of the engine and chew up bearings, etc.

So, I use a properly-size piece of hose from the filler cap to the air cleaner fitting. And, on Dad's truck with different valve covers and air cleaner that'll mean a trip to the parts store for exactly the hose Odie suggested.

The truck isn't currently being driven. I'm trying to work out some kinks before I do start driving it. My issue so far has been that the breather filter barb is smaller than that of the oil filler barb in the valve cover. I'm working on a reducer deal right now.

I've been successful heating the hose to get it over the smaller barb.

The fat silver thing he takes off to put the oil in(where the hose hooks) SHOULD have steel wool looking stuff up inside it. That works well enough to filter the air and keep grit out of the engine.

^ This is incorrect. ^

Notice in 255/302/351W parts catalog pic (lower) that the smog valve (6A666) fits into the grommet (6A892) of the oil cap (6766) on the left (drivers side) valve cover.

Right (passenger side) valve cover has a grommet (6A892) and elbow (6767). Hose (6853) routes from elbow to nipple on air cleaner.

LoL, it doesn't surprise me that it's an incorrect setup, Bill. It's not the original (or correct) engine, so I'm not sure what's been done and why.
I DO appreciate your input more than you know.

HOWEVER, this is what I came up with...

Looks good! Was that one item or did you add the piece that connects to the oil filler?

Gary, the 87000 hose is one I found (and hoped for the best) at Advance Auto. I cut about 3" off the air cleaner side of it. The hose on the valve cover elbow is a piece of 1/2" fuel/emission hose. Connecting them is a simple 1/2" to 3/8" coupler. It's nothing special, but it doesn't look TOO hack

Mine is on the driverside as well, should have been that way from the factor on mine as the orignal aircleaner does not have any holes in the back side for the passengerside valve cover to plug into. Now my 351W in my Mercury the passengerside hooks to the aircleaner for the fresh air and the PCV is in the driverside valve cover.

Not possible on my 302 in my '82 as the aircleaner does not have the provision on the back side for the breather filter to fit on the back side for the passengerside valve cover hook up.

As far as what I did, I just simply plugged a hose into the breather filter and stuffed it into the valve cover filler cap. Been that way for many years as I have not been able to locate the correct parts to do it the right way. Would have stole the same parts off a customers engine that was being sold but the aircleaner ended up being robbed by my boss for another customers truck a 1980 F150 Ranger.

BTman55 - Thanks. No, it doesn't look too hack. And, even if the factory had the flow going in the other valve cover it doesn't matter as it will work either way.
