For me it was easy. I had a very reliable 6.4. I loved that truck.

But going over all the cement bridges and roads and seeing my wife wince because of her back made the decision easy.

I needed something for a better loaded ride for the wifey. She won't say that but I could see it.

How heavy is your camper? My truck doesn't have that issue, and my wife normally sleeps so I know shes not uncomfortable...this is why the decision is a hard 1 for me.

I was running a little over 3K on the king pin wt. I had airbags but they just weren't enough to soak up those roads in Arkansas and Texas.

Bridges were the worst.

Ok,

If I decide on the truck I will add air bags anyway. I have them on my current truck and they really help, combine that with the air ride pin box its nice and smooth.

Im really leaning towards waiting on a 15 though as that's what I really want.

Decisions Decisions.

If you CAN wait, I would... If you really want a 2015 then waiting will make that more attainable for you. Especially since it sounds like you don't really NEED a new truck at the moment.

As soon as the new 2016 (probably as a MY 2017) SD comes out, then the 2015's will become a little cheaper. Plus, every month you wait the incentives to move the 2015s get better.

Just my .02.

Why rush something if you don't have to? The right deal will come along for what you really want.

I was just in your position.

My 6.0 was solid, Bulletproofed, and dependable. It was hard to quantify the additional cost. I only use it to tow my 40' 5th wheel.

I was offered a great price on trade in and a great price on a 15 Lariat DRW. I've bought all my Fords at this particular dealer and the sales manager knew I might be interested. The deal they offered was perfect.

I took the plunge knowing it was the best deal I was going to be able to make.

6 weeks and 1500 miles later... For the life of me I can't understand why I was so hesitant. The 6.0 doesn't even come close to the power of the 6.7. The ride, fitment, pulling power of the 15 made me think my 04 was an antique. I loved my 6.0 but I'm glad it's gone. It's the most relaxed I've ever been towing 15k pounds up and down winding roads.

Do what you can afford. But I assure you that if you can swing a 15 you won't be disappointed.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Keep us posted on any updates. I admire your patience and forward thinking.

After a long restless night weighing all the pros and cons, talking with the wife, who said buy it, I've decided to wait it out.

I really want a 15, so I'm just going to ride it out and see what happens in the next few years. My truck has been rock solid, it does need a little TLC but nothing that I cant handle.

So it looks like the quest is dead for now, until I can afford what I really want. I will keep my eyes peeled for a nice certified 15 in a year maybe 2.

Thanks,

Sarge

Sarge, I think your making a wise decision. In a couple years or less there are going to be a lot of great deals on '15's and possibly '16's with the redesign just around the corner. When my warranty is up I have a feeling I'm going to be in for a real treat with all the choices out there, I may even end up with a half ton Diesel PU. Things are only going to get better in the Truck world! Waiting is always the best move.

Just bought a 2011 king ranch with every option available from these guys:

Used Cars Houston TX | Used Cars & Trucks TX | DN Motor Cars

Texas is the way to go - the land of trucks. There are several similar dealers throughout Texas. I'm having mine shipped to CA for around $1300.
