6.7 Quest

Hey all,

Well Im getting pretty serious about pulling the trigger on something, jst not sure what.

So I found a pretty spotless 11 F350 Lariat dually with roughly 38K on it. Has everything in it including the 5th wheel prep and a Transflow tank in it. Its a 1 owner truck and from the pictures looks really good, Im going to take a look at it sometime this week.

Anyway, what should I look for the build date is 2/11 so Im not sure if this is a job 2 truck or not. I kinda lurk down here quite a bit, don't post much but I was going to order a 15 I just cant do it, I think it would really strap me.

The other truck that's in the picture is an 08 King Ranch. It was my buddys truck he used to pull his 5th wheel. Its obviously way more in my price range, but its a 08 and its only 2 years newer than what I have. But its also a dually and it has the same miles on it at 38k.

What keeps me a little leary of the 11 is it is not for sale at a Ford dealership, its at a corvette place, but it was the owners friends truck.

Thanks for the help,

Sarge

2011 is job 2... Mine was a job 2 with a Dec/2010 build date.

Personally, I'd get the newest, cleanest, truck I could comfortably afford. Try and get a dealer warranty with it.

You did not put asking prices, but I still see new 2014s lurking on dealer lots. Might be able to get a good deal on a new one that doesn't strap you down as much as a new 2015 would.

Just food for thought...

They are asking 46 for the 11, and 33 for the 08.

I feel they are way out of line on the 11, for that price I could find a 14 I would think. Problem is no one has dually's around here. For me to order a 15 they way my truck currently sits then Im looking at about 67k, so If I could get it for 56-58 Id be doing pretty good.

I think if that 11 was closer to 38-40 I would be doing ok with that as well.

If I can get the 08 for about 28-30 I may jump on it. My only concern with the 08 is with some of the issues they have. I also posted in the 08 forum but no replies as of yet.

use cars.com, and use 78759 for Austin, tx, 250 miles radius
and u can find a ton of 2012 and up F350 trucks, many lower than what u mention.. I wouldn't go to an 08-10, old 6.4. Skip the troubles.

for example 2012, asking 39,900 (these are always asking prices.. money talks)

I bet you could find a screaming deal on a '14. Pass on the 6.4.

I would think that you would be able to find something much cheaper than 46k for a 2011...

Granted, I had a Lariat SRW F350, but I only got $35k for my 2011 with 38k miles on it on a trade, although the AlCan did a number on it. So I would not have called it clean. Needed tires, needed a windshield, and the front grill was cracked from a rock hit. Not major things, but things that add up quick to fix.

For a list of $67k you should be in the $58k area and then plus your taxes, registration fees. A few months ago without the better rebates there are now, my list of $70k for a 2015 Platnium (I stepped up a few trim levels) was $60k with incentives and I had equity in my trade too.

New 2015 Ford Super Duty F-350 DRW Lariat (Gray Truck) | Serving Houston, Pearland & Katy Texas | AutoNation Ford Katy

2015 54.5k brand new. That's the yard stick for new trucks. Another 500 if you're military affiliated.

You should consider the 2011 a little more and negotiate. I traded my 2011 F-350 for 41.5k at the dealer above and they had it listed for 46k. IT sold within a week.

Thanks guys,

I drove the 08 last night and while the price was right the truck wasn't as nice as it was pictured.

I hear what you guys are saying about going to TX and looking for a dually but that's not doable for me. I live in NY, and would like to trade my 06. I am going to look at the 11 today and maybe its supposed to be mine lol.

I found another 1 at a closer dealer and went to look last night but the salesman was kind of a d**khead. its got 63k on its a Certified pre owned and apparently it was used to tow boats up and down the east coast. The truck is really clean, I think its a job 2 truck as build date is 4/11, and the selling dealer has all the maintenance records as well.

The search continues I guess.

If it was between my old 6.0 and a 6.4 I would still be driving the 6.0. 6.4 equals more problems and harder to work on in my book. It also had a short production run meaning fewer parts availability. JMHO.

I bought my 250 from Karl Klement Ford in Decatur, TX...very good price. I did see some srw 350's up there but no new duallys on the program price.

When I was in TX last summer we looked at some new trucks.

They wouldn't give me squat for a trade it.

Came home and got another 10K for my used truck.

No one up here wants to deal so it looks like I may be sticking with my 6.0.

All I hear is our truck is this price and your truck is a ....6.0. So they want to play the we will give you wholesale price for yours and we want retail for ours, I walked away from 3 trucks now because of it.

It looks like I may just wait another year or 2 and see what I can get a used '15 for in about 3 years.

Thanks for all the help and I will keep everyone posted as to what I decide.

So the truck I though was not attainable may be with in my reach. The first truck I saw was a 11 Silver/Gray Lariat Ultimate with 38k on it.

Juts trying to decide if I can really say good bye to my truck or not. The reason this decision is so hard for me is that the truck sits more than I use it as its main function is towing my 5er. So jumping up to a dually I wont be able to keep it in the shop all winter long as it wont fit without having to move it in and out every day, but towing my trailer will certainly be way easier on me.

Those are my thoughts. Not sure if its worth the risk and take the plunge on the 11, or sit on my truck for a few more years and wait it out.

Mine sits outside year around. It is not too lonely as I have four others that join it.

LOL,

Thanks Senix. I just have to convince myself that its a smart move to get rid of my flawless reliable 6.0...I know that the 6.7 is all around a nice truck, but I know every single thing about my truck and its still fairly serviceable.

I still may hold out a couple years and look into a used late 15 model. I really like all the updates on the 15's with the single turbo, exhaust braking, etc.

Im going to take 24 hours and really think about it, my wife says I can get it, but it requires a lot of thought for me its just not that easy as go get it.
