Clutch problem!! Engaged to floor is not engaged!!

On the way home from work my truck was running fine... then i come to a stop sign push in the clutch and try to stop and it wont go in gear!! I had to match RPMs to shift and stop and shut truck off to get in first. When i start my truck with the clutch in and in gear as soon as i turn the key i start driving unless im on the brakes! Whats this mean? What can i do?

Sounds like your clutch hydraulics have given up. Check the fluid in the master cylinder.

If that doesn't do it, you may need a new clutch. My buddies truck did the same thing, he drove it that way for about 2 months, then changed out the whole hydraulic unit and same thing. a month later I helped him change the clutch and there was a chunk missing where one of the springs should be.

My 96 did this about 10 years ago. My brother in law,who worked at ford in the diesels, changed the pedal assembly and something connected to it. Fixed it right up.

Did you install your new pre-bled unit? That's the first thing I would do. Master and slave cylinders?

Is the unit aftermarket or OEM Ford?

I've had horrible luck with aftremaket and only install Ford OEM clutch hydraulics.

Start with the basics. Look at the hydraulic linkage. Does the fitting where it connects to the pedal look right when the pedal is pushed? Does the firewall flex too much when the pedal is pushed?

What year is your truck? Does it have the upgraded fork or the older, weak one? Pull the slave cylinder and check to see if the fork is bent. (tape measure stuck in the bell housing measuring a good fork)

If those check out, then start spending money on hydraulics or pull the tranny to have a look.

A truck ran into me the other day and messed up some stuff in my front end. I was parked with the brakes locked and clutch pedal in. Other drivers insurance is assuming full responsibility and i had to get to work today so i had to turn it over to a dealership. I now drive a nissan sentra for the time being... i guess we will see...
