97 F250 Diesel lurching during drive
Hi, my dad's truck is lurching (the best way to describe it) during a drive and my dad thinks it's the Idle Control Valve. I have been searching for hours online where to find it on the motor with no luck. He can buy the part at NAPA but they cannot tell him where it is located to replace. Two questions: 1) where is the ICV and 2) does this sound correct?

If by lurching you mean your head getting thrown forward you have an engine that is cutting or stalling out.
#1 suspect with the 7.3 is the CPS sensor. Google "CPS 7.3" and buy it from Ford or International. I believe it will cost about $35? Do NOT buy it from AutoZone, etc. It is easy to change. Your Google search will lead you removal/installation instructions.
If this does not fix your issue please let us know more about your symptoms.
If this does fix your issue go back to the Ford dealership and buy another CPS. Put it and the tools necessary to change this again into your glove compartment.
This will do two things:
Prepare you for the probable failure of the CPS you just installed.
If you believe in "Murphy's Law", this will insure that you will never have a CPS failure again!
