Idle air control question

Hi again Electric1. I've adjusted the TPS to .96 VDC closed, with the throttle plates just not sticking. As a side note, it shook when I started it cold this AM. I blew in the MAP sensor vacuum line to clear it out and then it started fine. After warmed up the idle is fine now. On a warm start the idle comes right down. When I shift to neutral and back to drive the idle stays put. Yeah! However, when I disconnected the IAC, the idle never moved. I checked voltage on the IAC and it is working (new unit last year and cleaned). You said something about closing the vent holes in the throttle plates and readjusting the plates and TPS and IAC after that. Was that on a V-8 or just for the I-6. My engine has 125,000 miles on it and is original. Thanks. Oh, by the way, the original reading on the TPS before I adjusted was .97 VDC closed (with the plates gummed up).

Idle air control question

kwing, straight 300 6 cylinder, has the holes in ....some... throttle bodies, I have not seen the holes in all the 300 6 cylinder throttle bodies, MAP sensor line slightly clogged causes problems also like you found out, I'm glad I could help you find your problem and teach you about your ride, Electric1

Idle air control question

Well here's a new one, on me at least. I finally cured my erratic idle problem and did it for free. For some unknown reason I decided to take my MAP sensor air line off and when I did it dripped condensation. I just put it back on, started the truck and then pulled it partly off again, just enough to keep the engine running but also enough to suck the moisture out of the line, then I re-installed the line and VOILA! no more erratic idle! I just love these dumb luck fixes.
