Turn your I-6 300 into a fire breathing gas gussler

While cruising on CL I found this brand new setup to hot rod a 300 six. An Offy 4 barrel aluminum intake, 390 CFM Holley 4 barrel a dizzy and more.

Prices look good.

Actually if you tune the 390 holley correctly it is not a gas guzzler.

Been there and done that.

That's very true if you drive sanely and keep off the lead foot and save the extra horses for when you actually need it. Seeing how fast you can get from stop light to stop light that's not sane.

Pulling your fishing boat up a hill is where you can use the extra horses so you don't have a string of cars behind you with frustrated drivers ready to pass and probably cause an accident, that's sane.

Within the last 3 weeks gas has dropped in price and is now well under 3 dollars, actually $2.85. Now there are plenty more cars on the road and everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere. Now gas is cheap so they waste it. Now I can get 18 gallons for around $51.00 rather than $71.00 that it cost a few months ago.

I drive a little more but Ii don't waste it.

Great deal, the 390 is worth near the total asking price.


I always found the 300 lacking in top end power, great low speed farm engine, but on the road I would prefer a 460 vs the 300 in a F250.
