49 f1 air deflector

I have a 49 F1 and it's missing the under hood air deflector. I know there is a difference between the 6 cyl and the v8. I have a flathead v8 in mine. I have found two deflectors and I'm try to determine which one is correct. I measured the height of them and one is approx 6 3/8 wide (measured top to bottom) and the other one is approx 5 1/4 wide. Can anyone tell me which one I need?

Thanks
Dave.

The V8 air deflector will have an R stamped deeply in the bottom corner. The six cylinder deflector will have an H stamped in the same place.

It is stamped deeply enough that it can be seen from either side like the ribs that are stamped in it. I don't remember which side of the truck that it is on, I would have to look at mine. It is on the face on the lower corner next to were it bolts to the hood.

V8 deflector is approximately 33.5" wide. 6 cyl is 2" shorter at 31.5" wide.

Denny, May I ask what you used to fasten the seal to the metal? Did you use an adhesive, if so what worked?

The wire staples were carefully removed , straightened & w/ the help of some black silicone adhesive were reinstalled to secure the seals on the air deflector .Use plenty of clothes pins for clamps .Just make sure any clothes pins with black silicone DO NOT make it back in the clothes pin bag .
