1960 F100 what to do now?

Let me start out by saying I am new to this forum and man am I glad that I found it. I have searched this thing up and down and found a bunch of helpful information so thanks to everyone for their contribution.
Quick history on how I got here. I have been searching sites like the H.A.M.B and craigslist for some sort of project. my heart was set on getting a 30 model a tudor but I stumbled across a picture of this 1960 F100 on CL and just fell in love. It was only 3 hours away so off I went.
That brings me to this point, the truck is completely dismantled the cab is off to another shop to have the floor pans cut out and replaced that is about the only body work and fabrication to the body that I am wanting to do (for now) I have the frame and stock suspension sitting waiting on what to do next so that brings me to this question "What to do now?"
I think I am set on doing the crown vic front end swap but what about the rest of the car? Can I not use any more parts? I was wanting to replace the engine with the 4.6 or 5.4 and the tranny. I am just looking for a good starting place and wanted to see what you guys might think.
The goal for my truck is to be a solid running, driving truck. I want it to have a mild cam and possibly a little shot of nitrous just in case. so tell me what you think.

Welcome to the forum, looks like a nice sound truck to start with. If you are gonna do the crown vic conversion, the sky (or your wallet) is the limit on the power plant. Lots of these trucks running with 302's, 351's and larger. The rear end is a 9", so it can be set up to work with just about any engine trany configurations. Lots of engine mount kits available, but I don't know exactly how the crown vic impacts that. I am sure others will be along to help answer.

The rear brakes likely need to be freshened up and you likely will want power brakes. That decision will be impacted by if you want a standard or auto trany since the two masters cylinders are side by side on the wall.

Another thing to think about is if you are gonna move the gas tank. Several of us have moved it to the back, where the spare tire goes. You can see some pictures in my gallery. Click on my name next to my avitor (pic of truck) and choose Gallery, lots of pics in there.

Good luck on the build.

I do plan on putting a 68 mustang gas tank in rear, so we at least have that direction set.
I am considering the explorer rear end but if you think the stock one works then I will definitely keep it. I am thinking of going with an automatic transmission. I can probably get a donor crown vic and use the IFS but if I get the whole car I would want to use as much of the driveline as possible so I can save some $$ that is why I was thinking of the engine and tranny from the donor vehicle not real sure what I am going to do yet I am in the research phase so I would love to hear everyone's thoughts and recommendations. Its always easier to hear someone else tell me the do's and don'ts I have seen someone use the 4.6 from a CV that is what has me thinking of getting a donor car and using as many of the parts as possible.

yea your right but for some reason I want to torture myself and go with something fuel injected not to mention that I want a little bit of H.P.
I have a vision of an old hot rod truck lowered a little with the sound of a mild cam, then some punk kid with daddys money in a camero pulls up next to me at a red light, he laughs a little then 10 seconds later wonders what the hell just happened. I am familiar with the fox body mustang 302 and thought about trying to source one of those. Who knows, I plan on starting from the ground up so first thing will be the IFS, the way I look at that is I get the brakes, the suspension and the look in one package not to mention the cost is very affordable
Walston I looked at your gallery NICE!!!!

Well, you definately need to follow your own lead on this one. It will take some love to get it complete so make sure you are doing it the way you want it! Notwithstanding, it is hard to beat the sound of a little 223 just sitting their kind of purring! Ahhhh.... nostalgic.... sorry, I slipped into a time warp for a minute!

I have a 1960 F-100 with a totally hosed 223 I6... Since I have the truck in pieces... I am considering an engine swap to something a little bigger. I currently have in my possession for consideration:
1969 Ford Boss 429 V8 (Old backup engine from my old quarte rmile car.)
2006 Nissan RB33 DETT (3.3L I6 twin Turbo from a GT-R 34 Skyline race Car)

I also have available to get the Police Interceptor out of a 2013 Ford Pursuit (Australian)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Im currently boxing chassis, adding chrome 4" drop leaf springs and planning engine, transmission and front suspension upgrades. So any thoughts there would be welcomed.
