Easy deal. Our camper is 2500# dry weight, and last summer drove to Yellowstone with the family. No problem. For what it's worth, I have a full length add a leaf up front, and the rear is stock with the addition of air bags, which I ran at 80 lbs. Wind gusts were far more of an issue than weight.

I believe the pin weight of my camper is roughly2500 lbs.
3 miles won't be an issue, it'll ride like a Lincoln.
Give yourself extra room to stop.

They keep the truck level, and help with sway. The sway is more noticeable when I air down to around 40-50 lbs. I think that if I didn't have that leveling leaf up front, it would sit level. I think with my load, I'm just a bit over the 11,000 GVCW. Like Frank says, just be aware of stopping distances. I will say though, these beasts are tough and can take it. I was pretty impressed with how it did with the weight going up and down all the winding passes through Montana.

Good info! I have been thinking about getting one of those campers. Does it work well with a short bed?

You have to get one designed for a short bed. It's all about where the center of gravity is designed. For instance, you can fit a camper designed for a long bed into a short bed pickup with the tailgate down, but the center of gravity will end up too far back, making it unbalanced and too dangerous to drive. Ours is an 8' camper, and I believe that, or 8.5 feet, is the longest one made for shortbeds. (8' being the floor measurement)

I'll tell you what, it's sure made camping much more enjoyable. No more sleeping on the ground. It has a kitchen, heat, and a full bathroom with shower, so no more night time potty trips with a flashlight. Now my wife is more excited about going camping. It has a full size queen bed for us, and the dining table converts to a small bed for two, and there's an overhead bunk, for the boys. I also like the fact I can also pull our boat.

Do a craigslist search with 'short bed camper', so you can see what's out there.

Airbags are tour friend.

With them I have had ~2800lbs In the back of my f250 w/ no issues.

Dont forget to air your tires up.

3360 in the bed

I ended up with 3360 in the bed. Squated it but not as much as I thought. It rode like my neighbors Caddy. I'm impressed. Love my truck.

Those 4" rear blocks helped keep her pretty level.
Heck, my dually squats more than that with the camper hooked.
