Oil Change prices and question

Just did mine. 16 bucks for MotorCraft filter (advance auto online with TRT30 discount)and 84 bucks for 16 quarts T6 5w40 Rotella9( Walmart). 5 buck rebate under each cap. So I am in it for 100 and will get 20 back. 80 is decent IMO.Decided on the synthetic after lots reading.( And against my mechanics opinion )

She is not a leaker so hopefully its a myth about synthetic making her a leaker. Was considering lubriguard since it is 10.58 a gallon for 15w40,but just decided to save money elsewhere besides oil,Maybe keep my fatbutt out the restaurant for a week.

What are yall spending on oil changes?
Regarding oil change interval, mileage is never a problem, is the time element crucial? I just did mine cause it has been 6 months, but only 2500 miles.

Howdy,

Doesn't matter where you get your filter as long as it's a Racor filter. ($13) That means get a RACOR or a Motorcraft. I like Dieselfiltersonline.com Just shop around. I got enough oil, air, trans and fuel filters to get free shipping.

if I was only driving 5000 miles per year, I'd change mine once a year. There's no real benefit in changing it at 2500 miles unless you do a LOT of short trips where you don't get it warmed up. And if you are doing that, you should consider getting a different vehicle. That kind of driving is very hard on any diesel..... especially one with cooled EGR.

Regards,

Rick

FYI, that Rotella coupon is only good for two gallons per household, so you'll only get $10 back and prolly have to wait 2 months for that besides filling out the paperwork or whatever. When I realized it was only $10, I didn't even mess with it.

Not only that, but the rebate expired 10/31. Oh well, was going to get the T6 anyway

Dieselfiltersonline beats it at $13.50 (there's shipping though, unless you get enough to make the shipping free)

If you go in with others, (more than 12) you get them for $12.50

I bought 6 oil, 2 fuel 1 air 1 trans and got free shipping I am set for a couple of years!

I also got in on that Autozone $1/qt Mobil1 TDT to the tune of about 36 qts! and 4 gallons for $12/gal !! Woohoo!

I didn't recall that their Racor was that cheap! I use dieselfiltersonline also when I can get a big order up ($250 +) otherwise they are a little high on shipping. It has been awhile since the last order - might just be time to see if any locals want to go in together for one.

I am finally done with my Mobil Delvac ESP fling - now it is time to get back to the CHEAP Mobil 1 TDT oil - what a sale that was! Some folks seemed to believe the sale was because Mobil was discontinuing that oil, but it is still plentiful ... back at the pretty-penny price.
