Need 5r110 filter housing asap!

Hey guys, the shop working on my truck managed to break the aluminum filter housing for my 5r110 on my excursion and they said they can't find another one to change out. They suggested bypassing the filter but I'm not comfortable with that.

Frankly I'm pretty ticked off about it.

Anyway I really need a filter housing asap and was hoping someone either has one they will sell it knows where I can find one. Thank you.

Does your local ford dealer have one? If not they can usually get it there the same day. And I agree do not by-pass it.

No. It's backordered with no in stock date. I have checked multiple places. This is the one I need.

Depending on how soon you need it I would start calling local junk yards.

He said one of his warehouses has one. I also may have found one locally from a mechanic that does some 6.0's. Waiting to hear back, if he has it I'll go get it otherwise Autonation can hopefully get it sent out. Thanks.

Our local yards got bought out by a huge company called lkq and they list parts electronically and usually sell the transmission whole. Plus their prices usually suck. If I can't get one by next week I am gonna try them though.

Here's what you tell them.

"I got to have my truck. If you can't find a filter housing, just put the 2008 and up transmission pan and filter on it, splice the lines at the bypass filter, and we'll call it even."

The OEM filter in the 6.0 is a wire screen and only catches large pieces. The toilet paper filter (I hope that's what you're talking about) is a bypass filter that catches the small stuff.

In 2008, they made the pan different to accept a full flow filter that also catches the small stuff. The early 08 trucks had both the full flow filter which requires the different pan and the bypass TP filter. After a while (I think late 2008) Ford stopped using the TP filter completely.

Some 6.0 owners upgrade their transmission fluid filtration by installing an 08 pan and filter.

The external transmission filter housing is separate from the transmission itself, it is mounted near the bottom radiator support on the passenger side.

Ok I got a new one ordered from Minnesota.

Regarding the last two points:
First off, I just replaced the pan with a brand new trick flow extra capacity finned aluminum one, so I don't wanna trade it for an 08 one. But if I'd known that ahead of time that would be a good solution, but hind sight is 20/20.

Second, so the problem with lkq is that they don't list parts like that separately. They list transmission and it just comes with everything bolted to it. Sometimes they will separate but sometimes not. Sometimes they will sell a valve cover off a motor and sometimes they say they can't or they couldn't sell the motor as complete. Etc. So who knows what they list that filter housing with? And since they won't let you in the yard anymore and you have to tell the Mexicans that don't speak good English what you want, that would probably be a pain. And I don't have the old one with me to show them. And I don't have a vehicle to go there in the first place. Because my truck is in the shop. So ordering one made more sense.

The part number I have is : 3C3Z-7R179-AA

Do you know the difference between the part numbers?

It appears to me that your part number is the entire unit and mine is the housing by itself.

Would the difference in part# be due to the top half and bottom can?

There are two different style filter housings from what I was told.

I'm not sure on the exact different but the filters are apparently different.

Not an expert but that's what I was told by the dealership. I was originally given the incorrect filter because of this.

I had originally found one of the ones you just listed above and the shop (pasadena diesel repair) said it was not correct.

That doesn't make sense to me - that external filter is the same for all model years (the parts listings above show that).

When you look at the parts diagram. The entire housing has the base number 7B155 (everything inside the square). The housing by itself has the base number 7R179 (the part number I listed).

A Ford diagram is at the link below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4C3Z7B155AA-Ford-Filter-Assy-Oil-/390757852601?nma=true&si=BJfMtAi%252Fs4SEdKboohtLvnZvu6E%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Either way, you will get the part you need.
