2006 F350 Dually Rubbing/Skipping Sound during Sharp Turns

My husband and I have an '06 F350 4x4 dually that is my daily driver. I recently noticed that during sharp turns (such as in parking lots) I hear a skipping/rubbing/grinding noise and I can "feel" the noise as well. This noise occurs when turning either left or right and is always during a sharp turn (in 2WD). The only way I can describe the sound/feel is like it is in 4WD on a hard surface but not that violent. It's not the tires rubbing as I've been driving this truck for a couple of years and just recently started hearing/feeling this problem. Just replaced all 6 tires and the noise remains. To me, it sounds like the problem is in the rear end.

Any ideas?

When the tires on these trucks are turned at or near full lock, left or right, you get scrub due to misalignment of the tires, but it only happens during these tight turns.

Some limited slip rears have been known to activate a bit in tight turns at moderate speed and cause this effect as well. I've never seen it in my F350, but my old Chev 3500 did it on a U turn into a parking lot enterance with some regularity.

sounds to me like either your front hubs are locked or your rear has either low fluid, no friction modifier, or a mechanical problem.

I had this similar thing happening on my 2008 2wd dually, it was the rear axle limited slip clutches stated to go. I would suggest getting them looked at sooner than later before it cost more money to fix.

I agree sounds like the limited slip is not slipping as it should. Check the fluid you can even add some additive to it they sell it separately most quality brands of lube already have it. If it has never been serviced I would recommend draining it cleaning and inspect everything. seal it up and put in fresh lube. that would give you a chance to see if there are more than normal amount of wear or pieces of clutch material in the bottom.
